so, i've been thinking too much about the sucky things in my life lately. i get bogged down, stuck on one line of negative thought. and it's just pointless. my life is *not* that bad. the other day at work a woman asked me where the cancer center was and i had no idea. she asked a couple of times, i pointed her in the...

Well, I was going to ask, "How have you been?" since I haven't talked with you in forever.

But it looks like you're feeling contemplative, so I'll scratch that question.

... read any good books lately?

ugh. crappy run. did somewhere between 10 and 11.5 miles. i was shooting for the latter, but my knee was absolutely killing me. that was really the first time it's given me any trouble, but it was too much for me. i'm thinking i'm going to have to keep to the elliptical machine this week so as to not put any more strain on it....

ohhhh knees always used to get me too when i ran. um, okay, so we're talking high school cross country, but you know. have you heard about chirunning? i've been reading the book, and it makes a lot of sense to me. the methods might help you run so that your knees don't hurt - here's the website if you want to check it out: http://www.chirunning.com/

i hope you feel better!!

I think that they can recomend something.

the knee might be the temperature, that is if you have had any trouble with tendonitis.

otherwise, enjoy our little town.(like you don't know how little it actually is) Ciao

i didn't feel like doing the hill so i only did 10 miles yesterday. when did running 10 miles become easy for me? there was a time not so long ago that i was ecstatic i could run 1 mile without stopping. i love the fact that i can do it, but i'm still not at the point where i really love actually doing it....

Death to leafblowers and those who use them. My neighbor uses his three or four times a week even though he has professional landscapers come every weekend. (He apparently can't stand to see even one loose leaf anywhere on his property.) I often fantasize about sticking it up his ass and exploding him, Dig Dug-style.

i made it 11miles yesterday and found the really big hill. it was brutal. i'm feeling pretty confident i'll be able to run the half marathon now, barring any injuries.
i hate being broke. i'm trying to save money for the trip with switters in november so i'm trying my very best to be frugal and still have a life. it's very difficult.

11 miles bravo, and new profile pic! yay!!

I know about frugal! I am on a strict budget, if I can maintain through Feb then I will feel pretty good about how much of a home loan I can afford and still mainain a lifestyle that will not leave me house bound and house poor.
nolan_void:
It's never easy to save money. The other day my mom and I were bitching about financial woes together, and she asked me how much I normally spend a week. I thought for a second, and said "However much I have."

today i made it 10 miles! it seemed easy too, i was only huffing a little up a couple of hills. i don't know why it's easier some days than others. maybe it's because i'm really happy these days. i'm good when i'm angry and just pounding out the miles, but maybe i'm better when i'm happy and feeling invincible.
i did race for the...

Wow. Running has never been my forte. My hat is off to you.

I've been off the radar. Again. Wanted to come through and say hello. How are you doing?

9 miles today. i'm hoping to increase by a mile a week. i;ve done 9.5 before but not anything over so next week will be new ground for me if i can make it.
so a lot of people are making a big deal about how much weight i've lost and i'm starting to get self-conscious about it. i've lost around 15 or so pounds....

Hey there. Just dropping in after forever. Sounds like you're making a lot of headway. As long as you have a good trainer, balanced nutrition, appropriate rest schedules, and a healthy mental approach you should do fine, it would seem.

Forgive me, but are you training for anything in particular?

Oh, too, are you still in the Anthro field; are you going to the AAAs in D.C. in November/December? I tried to start a thread in the Academic SG group...

just make sure that you don't get to the point where yr arms look so skinny that if you bumped into something you might break.

well, after a couple of weeks of gluttony and sloth, i dropped off on my mileage: last week i could only run 7, this week 8. but my plan is to increase by a mile a week so i can get up to half marathon distance long before the actual race. especially since 3 weeks before race time i'll be taking a couple weeks off...

what an outstanding weekend. headed down to the beach friday night for and old friend's wedding. spent the weekend with my closest friends i don't get to see often enough, built sandcastles, few kites, drank a lot of wine, had a bonfire on the beach. just amazing. the ceremony was beautiful too. the only thing that would have made it better was if switters could...

That's an adorable pic of you two. 11 weeks does seem like a long time. But it's less than 3 months. Keep yourself busy and it will fly by.
