I have been working what seems like non-stop since one of our cooks is gone to Peru for 3 weeks. That's alright, I'm making money, but the hours I'm working make it rather hard to spend any time with Colette79. Also, my Parents are coming to visit on April 4th, which is sooner than I think, seeing as there's barely been any time to clean or anything.

Today is Casimir Pulaski Day. This is appropriate for a few reasons. I, of course, enjoy Sufjan Stevens very much, and one of my favorite of his songs bears that titile. But more so, this past week I've been researching a bit of my family history and really getting into the Polish side of it. Yes, I am a Polack, at least 1/4, but I think it's the 1/4 of me that I like the best.... The more I've been reading about the history of Poland the more I like it. I think this is going to become a bit of an ongoing project...
In other news, my parents are coming to visit me and Colette79 early next month, and I'm really looking forward to it. Usually I have to go all the way to BC to see them, but nope, not this time. It's going to be really cool.

Well, this evening I spend alone because Colette79 is in Toronto with Paper Moon doing a show for Canadian Music Week. I'm sure she'll have a blast, I'm actually rather jealous because I wish I could be a jetsetter and just take off to Toronto overnight to play shows. *jealous*

So about a month ago I posted about the new iBook I was getting for such a good deal. Well, turns out it wasn't such a good deal. In fact, it never showed up. This guy screwed me over! I sent him the money for the computer, he said he sent it, and I never heard from him again, and no computer. I went through Paypal to see if I could get the money back, but no go, the're no money in this guy's account. So, I paid off most of that blunder, and then I went straight out, in moderate frustration, and bought a new iMac.
I really love my new computer, it eases the pain of getting fucked in the ass. I think I already have a buyer for my old PC laptop too, so that's very helpful. That will ease the pain on my Visa a bit!

If anyone is looking for a new album to listen to this particular Valentines, I have to say that my discovery of Codes and Secret Longing by Raised By Swans has made me very happy and mellow. Sad and Happy at the same time.
last night I made Colette79 a very nice dinner. Strong Bloody Marys followed by a nice salad of Organic greens topped with shallots, red pepper and extra aged cheddar and a vinaigrette I whipped up. Then some wine and Spinach and Artichoke Pasta. I had a lot of fun making that. I love to cook!

Past Valentines Days have made me very emo. Not this particular one, since I'm a happy boy with a loverly girl to be with, but you know, back in the day. Perhaps stories are in order?

vday 1999, the first one where I had a real girlfriend. It was a Sunday, which was our day, as the rest of the week was school days. I spent all afternoon in her arms, cuddling and falling asleep on her parents couch, just content to be together. There were moments with her that lasted forever, or that I wanted to. It's funny, as the years go by you tend to forget all the bad things that happened then, and everything becomes like a blurry photograph, it's almost a true likeness, but so much softer.

vday 2001. there was a girl I was completely in love with who didn't love me back. I borrowed my friend's car to drive to Brandon, 100KM away in the cold winter, to go see her. She worked at a movie theatre. I got into Brandon a few minutes before her shift was done, and sat in the lobby of the theatre. I paid 2.50 for a small Coke. In the car, driving her home, I brought out a single red rose. I meant it too, I spent that evening thinking I could make something out of nothing. I spent most of the next year thinking I could make something of nothing.
