I just hate this shit, people being forced out. I joined to meet cool folks, and I have; but I suck at the real world and don't have much free time, so it's easier to "live" in an online community. I get that certain people own the site, and it's theirs to do with as they wish, so the Capitalists argue; but I hate that. I hate that aspect, being a renter here, so to speak. Fuck that. So they own the domain name and the servers and the code and content of the site... but they've created a community through it all -- the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. There is more at stake than simply making a buck. I think that's a lesson they need to understand and respect.

...but then again, I'm an unapologetic socialist.

Yeah being Raleigh does make it hard to get to things like Impromptu Girlie Night. That was totally a spur of the moment thing (as so many of the lovely things that happen in Chapel Hill are since they all live so close and see each other so often...) Had I not been there when the idea was born I wouldn't have been in the loop either.
