So. Few weeks later and hopefully the business will quiet down a bit. I passed another Microsoft Certification Exam and that makes me happy (one closer to getting letters after my name other than B.Sc... which doesn't really bring the ladies).
More importantly though... I've now logged a decent few hours of motorcycle riding. It has been a humbling experience, let me tell you. Having never driven a standard I really wasn't excited about clutching and (who could've guessed) I am in fact bad at it. I'm getting better, of course, but it is still greatly annoying to be bad at the entire "going forward" part but rather good at turning/stopping... just not getting going again. This has also drifted over into making me worry about downshifting in my car which makes no sense since it's an automatic.
In short it seems trying something new is a good way to keep one humble. I suppose there really isn't any harm in that... I just hope I'll make it through the week without being constantly distracted by bike-related thoughts.

So... just went back last night (as apparantly with the NAIT course you get free practice Tuesdays for a year... handy says I) and drove around for a few hours doing slow work and general riding. Apparently that bullshit line teachers give you about "go, take a day off and come back to it and you'll be amazed at what you can do" is actually true. Didn't stall once and was doing figure eights with the best of them. Yay me. I will do my best to remain perhaps slightly humbler than when I started, however.

You'll be good at driving standard soon enough! It just takes time, then you'll have to try something else like .......knitting? to keep humble.

Learning to shift is not the greatest experience in the world. Look on the bright side, I learned in the snow.
