So, I've been making this game.
It's a card game about going out and trying to get laid. All tongue-in-cheek.
You recruit other players to be your wingman by promising them things and the two of you try to seduce an encounter while the other players try to stop you. If you fail, bad things can happen. If you succeed, you are rewarded with rank and trophies.
You can play as a Straight Edge Pimp Bitchslapping your way to the top. Or you could be a Furry Stripper earning your way by getting the other players to give you things. Along the way seduce everything from a normal Canadian to Elderly Nudists all the way to the mighty Fonz.
Now, there are alternative rules built into the game which turn this into a drinking game and/or a stripping game.

Is anyone interesting in serving as playtesters for me? I need people who are actually going to play, it costs me about $20 to print up one set of cards. The game can be played with only two people, but works best with 4-6.

I'm back.
I think I'm done going to Singapore for a while. 6 trips halfway 'round the world in 2 years is more than enough for me.
Good news is that I'm going to use the frequent flyer miles to send me, my wife, and my Mom to Paris. I'm not sure when yet.
The most interesting thing about spending 3 weeks so far from the US is the news. Totally different spin and focus. It was humbling to be so close to both the disasters in Myanmar and China. <sad> What was said about those disasters here? Friday, weeks after the Myanmar disaster, The Strait Times (Singapore's local paper) had the first three pages devoted to the coverage. I wouldn't be surprised of the final death toll gets close to 1 million. That's just staggering.
don't know what else to say...

I just got a speeding ticket!!! AAAARRRRRGGGGHHH
Well, actually, I kinda deserve it. I do speed.
But the line is drawn in the friggin' sand. Sometimes you pass by a cop at 85 mph, nothing. Other times, you can get pulled over at 72.
I was 'clocked' at 78.
Now, normally I wouldn't really fight that, I sometimes go that fast. But I was cruising along at about 70 or so, and a pair of lights came zooming up behind me. I sped up to pass the car next to me. Even when the cop turned on his lights, I thought he was just telling me to get out of his way. And I don't think I ever passed 75. Grrrrr.
Oh well. If I only get one speeding ticket every 8 years. It's worth the extra 10 minutes a day I save on my commute.

damn

It's Brankauti and my anniversary!! biggrin
One year down, and going strong.
<sheepishly> better than my last marriage wink

We're going to a nice dinner at Stonecroft. We've had some of our best meals there. They changes chefs a while back, and we were disappointed. We haven't been back since. Hopefully tonight will convert us back.

Still on vacation.
My wife and I are planning our garden for this year. We had a garden a few years ago. We haven't had time to have another since then. What's everyone's favorite fruit and/or veggies? What would you plant? We already have an apple tree, a pear tree, 9 blueberry bushes, and a ton of wild raspberries.

So, I want to talk a little about health care. Are you for socialized health care? Do you support what Massachusetts did to their health care system? Okay, for those who don't know, Massachusetts made it mandatory for everyone to have health care. If you make less than $9000 a year, the state pays for the bare minimum health care. If you make between $9000 and $25000, the state assists you in getting health care. And if you make more than $25000, you are on your own. If you don't have proof of insurance, you pay a penalty on your taxes to the tune of the cost of the bare minimum insurance. The funds they used to make this possible was the emergency care funds. Now, the minimum care under that plan doesn't cover prescriptions and has a $3000 deductible.
I think this has gone in a strange direction. In my mind, if we are to socialize health care, we should target preventive medicine. One free physical a year should be first and foremost. If the concern is to make health care available to the poor, Massachusetts's plan didn't do it. Even if something really horrible happened a person making $9000 a year would never be able to pay the $3000 deductible. And if you go to an emergency room in Massachusetts, you better have insurance, 'cause now they have no way to pay for your care.
Do we want our taxes to be 60%? That's what it would take to have the health care that everyone really wants. I think I might be okay with that, but somehow I doubt that the rest of the country is ready for it.

I'm enjoying my vacation. biggrin
So far: Had people over for a friend's 30th b-day party. Good food. Good friends. And a nerf tag free-for-all all over our house.
Next day did a little gambling. Played a game of Settlers of Catan.
Yesterday went up to Exeter NH. Fixed Brankauti's car. Bought a mop. Bowled a few really lousy games.
Today I think I'm going to hang out with my sister while Brankauti is busy at work.

The first few month's at Brankauti's Shop Spirit Gallery Tattoos were a littler slower than we had hoped. But, we're booked up for a month in advance now!! And, we have a new apprentice. Our old one has health issues that are going to prevent her from working too much.

We heard a crazy radio ad while up in NH. It was for a mass being held at a local high school this weekend. The ad was about a minute long. The entire time, rock music was playing in the background. It was targeted at getting young people to go. They actually used the phrase, "It's not like normal church, it's like church on RedBull." We were laughing for the whole ad. I wish I had a recording of it, I missed a lot from laughing too hard. But it inspired us.
We came up with more phrases they should have used.
"He died for your sins, now let him rock your world"
"Join our singles mixer, and enjoy our body of Christ buffet"
<in my best monster truck promo voice> "You'll sit, you'll stand, you'll kneel, and you'll stand again!!"
What can you come up with?

VA-ca-TION!!!!!
I'm taking the rest of this week off and all of next week. And boy, I needed it. My work stress has been growing over the past few months. It feels good to get away for a couple weeks.

What's with this "tax refund" thing that Bush is doing? I know a lot of people can use the money, but I'm confused as to how giving everyone a $600 loan for a year is going to really help the economy long term. People are just going to spend it, forgetting they have to pay more taxes next year due to the added 'income'. Net result: more debt for everyone. <head scratch>

I'm glad Obama is in the lead. But, to me, he's just the best candidate, not the ideal one. I'm sure that's true for a lot of people. The two-party system breeds extremes. And in order for it to change, the way we elect our president has to change. Change in a way that elects the candidate who represents the average, not the stronger extreme.

Okay, no more political rants for today.

Have a good one,

Deke
