I am having an existential crisis. One in which I look longingly at my cat and wish through my soul fibers that I could switch lives with him. He sleeps in a little pile on the bed, sits in the window, roams the backyard in the evening. I may be a bad person or a bad cat owner or something, but I let him outside....

@myrtle I haven't finished anything much myself but I was excited that you wanted to write one. Now is a great time to start :-)
78walk:
Well there's no doubt about your talent as a writer, as far as I'm concerned. Finishing is hard, especially if we hold ourselves to a very high standard. Hope you make progress soon!

Hey kiddos
I'm doing a project, who wants to add a little input on male/female friendships? Do they work? Do they not? Do they work if sex is involved? Can girls ever be one of the "guys"? I need the ladies and gents to put their vote in on this one, you know you all have your stories wink
I'll give you my input once I've...

I don't usually comment but I feel I should. I have slept (actually sleeping) with a friend and she's seeing other people. We are friends and I trust her completely. I hope she feels the same. I don't feel there is any tension. Hope this helps.
ryuhayabusa:
well, I'm a bit late to this conversarion; but, I've had a few friendships that became romantic and it was great while it lasted. Also did the friends-with-benefits thing once and it ruined the friendship. She wanted to bang more often and I wanted to concentrate on my work...it ended with her always being too busy because she was hanging out with a couple different other guys: one she was clearly dating and another that apparently replaced my role in her life. We still hung out here and there but our daily adventures and conversations had ended. In the end, (since I was the one who seduced her) I feel I didn't accomplish anything by hooking up with her--instead I lost a friend that I had come accustomed to leaning on quite often. I think the result was due to the fact that we were so different... which is what I admired and thought was so adorable about her. But it just couldn't work. We grew further apart and are reduced to a political correctness of "yeah, we're friends"....but she's not (and I don't consider her someone I dated). So.... wtf?!

i dunno, you seem pretty special to me.
78walk:
As a rule, I don't think people become special by trying to be uber-awesome. It's more a result of living one's life the right way, being there for those who need us, choosing to do the right things when we could get away with something less. In that light, I'd say you are a very special young woman.

Sometimes this whole job situation feels so damned hopeless. For everyone. I mean, it's not possible to make that many jobs for this many people that need them. There just isn't enough work. It's so sobering. The even more sobering idea is that you can't live without it. I wish that by some magical occurance I had land bequethed to me and I could live...

I feel the same way, my dearest friends are radiant in my eyes. smile

I, too, suffer from romantic fantasies about secluded farmhomes... but then I realize I'm daydreaming in the aisle of Trader Joe's as I pick up my favorite granola bars.

I'm working on a book that talks about sex and destruction and magic. Isn't that what the world is made of? Maybe I'll finish it, maybe I won't. That seems like how things go lately and I like it.
I work with a hilarious older man writing his novel as well. I'm editing my grandfathers book as well.
Busy.

When I'm not doing those things,...

So, little kitty has taken up residence in the garage. Good, because I don't have a heart attack every time it rains, and he/she lets me a little bit closer with each feeding. Bad, because little kitty leaves poops and pees in the garage that smell terrible and will have him evicted by my parents.

I've decided that the best idea for capture to transport...

So, some of you may have read that I lost my dear dog, but a kitten showed up in my backyard paralleling his loss. I have been persistently attempting to lure this kitty to my breast with gourmet kitten food, but no such luck. He is true ferrel kitty, and will only let me watch him eat, but not touch.

I want what's best for...

You're making me blush! Thank you. My haircut idea actually came from Posh! It's a work in progress, growing one side, cutting the other, all asymmetrical.

Keep us updated on the kitty. smile
floyd:
I placed out food and left a small cardboard box outside with one of the sides removed and a towel inside it. That way the cat would go inside the box when it was raining.

That particular cat never let me touch it, but 2 of the 3 cats I had growing up were stray cats we adopted.

I had to put my sweet dog down yesterday after he went into congestive heart failure.
And it was the 3 year anniversary of my sisters death.
I feel like the universe wants me to feel terrible constantly.
