Updating while waiting for water to boil in the other room... It's been a night of busy bee activity. With an AlienPrincess at work, I've been amusing myself by cooking up a small storm. Dinner was Braised Chicken w/ a citrus reduction. I bought a monstrous bag of dried shitake mushrooms last week so I put them to good use by incorporating them in the brown rice I made.
I also made a trip to Ikea a whopping 1.5 mi away... I needed a carafe for the pomegranate sangria I'm bring to ElmCityDrunk's on friday night. In case you've forgotten, it's the relative equivalent to SGCT's Xmas party. I normally abhor holiday-ish stuff (Xmas parties included), I reckon the cause for mixing equal parts cool peeps and copious amounts of hootch is good enough for me.
Anyhoo, Ikea was a retail wasteland... Endcaps of Poopli's and Faarfalg's were sacked. They had their staff bracing for the worst shopping foot traffic imaginable but, it seems Tuesdays & Wednesdays there are pretty light. Every single lane was open and there were more cashiers talking to one another than there were customers to ring up. I found my decanter and 8 4x6" picture frames & breezed through to the whole store in 8 minutes. I can't imagine one being able to do that at the Long Island location.
My future in the next couple of days entails calling the odd morgage broker or two, catching up w/ the still-grey AmazonRed13 and nosing my better half.

I actually had very good success with mine.
Pomegranate Sangria, wow that sounds good, I am not a big Sangria fan as it usually winds up to sweet but pomegranate should bring a tartness to the mix that even I might like
Today I'm finally picking up book 3 of the Neal Stephenson trilogy, courtesy of an early xmas gift certificate from a local sci-fi bookstore. They have one first edition hardcover left, and it shall be mine.
Enjoy the party tonight. I have a feeling that the pomegranate sangria will be a smash hit.
