as of tomorrow we will be 34 weeks, so 6 more weeks til the due date.
I'm doing well, though I suspect I'm beginning to come into the part of pregnancy that's a little more bogged down. I don't have a particularly huge belly, which is totally normal for a tall 1st time mom, but even so it's starting to...

we stopped for coffee at what appeared to be a mom & pop coffee shop on our ride. First I noticed that the coffee sort of sucked, and then I noticed that the place was actually a franchise.
The coffee sucked in that almost good but not really what it should be sort of way.
maybe too long in the thermos, maybe a little watery.
I like strong coffee, and i realize that this is not the case for the majority of American coffee drinkers, but ideally one could get a good cup of coffee in a coffee shop.
the best coffee for me these days is coffee we make at home, usually from starbucks or traderjoe's coffee beans, or willoughy's if we have been down that way.

the first coffee i drank was coffee my dad made when i was a teenager. he still makes coffee the same way-one of his few reliable characteristics. His coffee is knock you down, put hair on your chest, stop and take notice coffee.

the coffee i make at home is descended from his coffee making method, yet influenced by each of the three coffee shop jobs i had in my early- mid twenties.
i like my coffee strong, and plain. unadulterated.

I'm not sure why I still expect on some level that coffee shop coffee in any given coffee shop will be up to my standards, despite much experience to the contrary. I end up feeling let down, but also a little silly for not having expected that.

I've turned to tea over the past year or so. I was never a big coffee drinker, just had a few cups a week. Now, I'm doing at least one cup of tea per day. Usually English or Irish Breakfast tea, which I guess is black tea. Occasionally, I'll have so Green tea, or some sleepy tea (camomile, I think) at night.

my comfort food recipe:

step 1- wash potatoes--as many as fit in the pot
step2- cut into small pieces (so they cook faster) may be cube-ish or wedgeish or w.e
step3- put in pot with water, salt optional
step 4 put on lid, wait for boil, test potatoes for doneness after 15-20 min depending on size of pieces
step 5- drain
step 6- eat...
