Off I go into the wild green yonder. Leaving tomorrow for a week at a shamanic healing center in the Peruvian Amazon. This will be my third trip in the last two years (profile pic is actually from last time down there.) I need to get my head straight and stress levels down before I start this new job and this seems the way to...

I knew I was getting old when I started getting hangovers without even being drunk. A few drinks at night, even spaced out and cushioned with food, is enough to leave me a bit gray and slow the following morning.

Now, apparently, I can have break-ups without every having a relationship. Last night I called things off with a woman. Only we had never really...

I think you are reacting to the renewed awareness that I am alone. Bc if you did care for her, you would have realized at the very least you haven't seen her in days not weeks.

happened to me recently. I remembered the good ones, and found a couple of others I liked. Hey ho.

How's that hypothetical decision-making process going?

So heres a hypothetical situation:

Youre almost 36 and you have three career paths from which to choose:

1) Take a corporate job that is challenging and very high paying but that will make a serious dent in your quality of life and doesnt have any exit strategy except climbing the ladder and fattening the 401k.

2) Go work for a startup in a job...

I might write a story about it wink

But if those are the choices, I choose #2; because it sounds as if it might be a job which could be extended upward if things went well, but without the need to do so. Also, quality of life is worth a lot.
And if it's really dull as ditchwater, maybe the dreamchaser thing would start to look attractive again tongue
gabriellamarie:
I would pick the one that makes me the most happy.

I have an irrational hatred of Rick Steves. I have never met the man and to my knowledge he has done nothing evil or harmful to anyone. I find his approach to travel aesthetically repulsive and his vocal mannerisms drive me to the edge of insanity but Im not sure either of those can account for the intensity of my dislike.

If I were...

hang on a minute... do I recall that you've been a self-made rich person? Without being a motivated obsessive? Mr Steves better watch out...

I think a lot of people would like to kick that guy's ass even though he's never really done anything to them. He's creepy and weird. He might be an alien.

mhm... I'm southern, in British terms, and there are no big mountains here. "Treeline" is kind of an arcane concept to most Brits, never mind "snow line" ...

Hey thanks for the kind words.
I'm still not sure if Braveheart is a favorite or a guilty pleasure. I'm also not sure of the difference.

It took me eight years to make my first million and 12 hours to lose it

Now that's a great pickup line smile

NEW ORLEANSMay 30th, 2011President Tom DeLay and FoxDisney Chairman Rupert Murdoch were among the luminaries present today for the opening of Disneys New Orleans, the entertainment conglomerates newest theme park built on the ruins of the once great city. The ceremony marked the culmination of a process that began almost six years ago when the city was largely destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in...

I was at the gym tonight and this girl near me was engaged in a pretty lame treadmill session. Active rest at best. Next thing I know she has left the machine and is standing in front of a mirror hula hooping. And not just a little hip action either. She was going off: shimmying, shaking, snaking her arm up through the hoop, doing some...

I love Italy too. One can never know enough about Italian culture. But I am a woman, and know enough that whistling and harassing on women is just something they do to tourists.
And so a guy doesnt have to worry about the harassment but enjoy the art and the history and the food.
I enjoyed your story about your last trip to Europe, and would love to explore Oktoberfest with you in Germany.

Sorry about that judgment rains down bit. I'm in the South drinking hard and I got a little gothic wannabe on y'all.

You will doubtlessly be honored to know that this is officially the first poem written about me on SG. I think. I'm assuming some of the less coherent emails were not intended to be poetry, anyway, although they weren't particularly clear as prose either.

You needn't be self-conscious about your age. It's perfectly within the range of normalcy as far as I can tell. smile
gabriellamarie:
I agree with Liante, age is really just a number.
