Many life changes:
just finished the MPH
new job
Moving to New York! right now. I hate moving
and no more SG

There are many people I'll miss here, and I hope to be able to keep in touch.

OK, I found it: friends threads are located under "home" in a tab behind your list of friends' journals.

Hey.
I used to be 1point6180.

What's with my coming back and then you leaving???

There's no one left!!
sureality:
I know you have been a fan of my work in the past, so I figured I would let you know my new film is posted in my journal today. Come check it out before YT pulls it down.

so, my pretties, I am soon to go grey

In the meantime, is it hard to screenprint? I have a strange urge to re-layer new images over the old faded ones.

Screenprinting is pretty easy. I can send some helpful links your way if you want to email me.

I hope that we'll stay in contact at least minimally after you leave the site.

"Death without mercy to all parasites upon the working class!
Forward, my comrades, forward! For a better world, and for our sacred freedom!"

I could probably use some advice, actually - especially from an apparently "globe-hopping" person who knows something about academia. Only a few days ago I realized that I could probably stand to specialize in Eastern Europe.

Since people seem to like the environmental health tips, here's another one:

Though most lead municipal water pipes have been replaced, the pipe that connects the house to the water supply is the responsibility of the homeowner (I'm assuming apartment buildings also follow this rule). So, if you live in a house built in the first third of the 20th century, you probably have lead...

Today's message: DON'T BUY MICROWAVE POPCORN

Reason 1 - workers in the factories, particularly those who mix the popcorn with the "flavoring", have an alarmingly high rate of very serious lung disease. In animal studies, the "flavoring" particles airborne were extremely potent at causing this type of disease... some of these people are young (in their 20s) and many of them have never smoked... These...

Thank you. I, uh - thank you. You're too kind.

Why don't you post on the boards anymore?
zarth:
Quite understandable. I have to take long breaks sometimes, myself, and I find I often have to wait a day or so between reading somebody's response to me and responding to them in turn, simply in order to avoid initiating a, what does Gen Y call it, a "flame war." Anyway.

At least a respectable portion of posters here are thoughtful (by no means all, of course). And I think it's generally good to be able to hone one's argumentation skills against, you know, people who one might disagree with screamingly. You know, the people who, when you talk to them in real life, will say something so totally whack-a-doodle that all you can is stare at them dumbfounded wondering what planet they think they're on (e.g., guy at work: "When Serbs and Croats fight, you know, they're like brothers - but those Bosnians are different!" or "You know how the Moors got Spain, don't you? They conquered it!"). Anyway. Thanks again for your support.

The Saturday before last, twice-greyed nulleretica/whatever-his-name-was and I went to the Black Sun Festival in New Haven. It was at a place called "Toad's Place" right across from Yale.

1. The pleasant surprise was The Last Dance. Enjoyed

2. I had most wanted to see Combichrist, and they were good, but not as good live as Front Line Assembly, seen many years ago. Oh,...

They still have full-service stations in this country? I haven't come across one in YEARS.
zaksmith:
i clicked on the black sun link when you put it up and decided i would not go because i'd never heard of any of those people, which is too bad, i could've shown you around hideous hideous new haven. we hate that grocery store, by the way, it replaced an older and cheaper and grosser one and in general contributes to the "this-end-of-the-streeet-is-for-students-not-you-local-riffraff" vibe of that part of york street. oh well

We went to the Body Worlds exhibit at the Museum of Science. I would recommend it - very very interesting stuff.

Practical advice!! About office supplies

From my dad:

If you find an old tape dispenser at a thrift store, and it's really well weighted down so that when you pull the tape the dispenser doesn't fly off the table and hit you on the head: don't buy it!!! They used to weigh them down with uranium and, apparently, it's been long enough that they now...

Thanks in part to the impressive multitasking skills of the lovely Kwizzle, I finally got the little, tiny gold septum ring installed in my nose. Yay!

Beyond that, I have so little to say these days that I think I may have to recall some of the things I've said in the past - just to fill up the void.

So we found a place to live in NY - it's in Inwood, at the very tip of manhattan, between two big parks. Things are finally going better! I'm glad.

I've been thinking about why the prospect of a brain tumor is so particularly scary. For me, a person who has spent pretty much her entire life studying and learning, getting a PhD, etc., I've reached the point where I think my brain is basically all I have to offer. It would be like a model as confronted by a disfiguring skin disease.

My dad...

Cancer is just plain scary in any form, but I feel a particular horror about brain tumors myself.

I'm glad they were able to cut it out and I hope very much that there will be no more of it.

As for cats in sinks, your dogs can at least fit in the tub, right?
nullarelicta:
Well, we don't get in the sink with the cats, either.
