Well, I had my first Dillinger Escape Plan experience last night. Holy. Fucking. Shit. I will rarely sit around and listen to this music for pleasure, but the concert is something to behold. It is just a primal explosion of something in a way I have never seen at a show before. I would definitely go again.

I also so Mogwai on Friday, which was...

Dear Rainer, thank you for the sweet words you wrote about my previous blog. Things have indeed taken a turn for the worse on here I think, it is so disappointing..

Hope you are well.

love from Rome,
F.

ps: That Retaphin video is awesome.

Chilling at home, listening to some tunes. Way to utilize that big, awesome city you live in, chief. I should work on them (non-existent) social skills. Haven't even picked up the banjo in a couple weeks, so it would seem that I am something of a funk. Blah. I badly need some sunshine. I don't know if I can handle five to seven...

Thanks for all the music you posted, it's taken me a while but I'm listening to it now! I don't think I had heard any of it before so it's really nice. I love the Mono track.

Well, after a few months away, I got bored and caved. Here I am again.

So, moving to a big, cool city didn't really change any of the parts of me that make socializing so impossible. I only seem to open up to people enough for them to feel comfortable when I am drinking, and that's not really a path a care to...

Now nearing the end of my first week as a Chicagoan. Woohoo! I'm feeling pretty good about things. I'm enjoying myself, even though I've yet to meet anyone or start school. I just wake up feeling energized, which hasn't been the case in sooooo long. So far, so good.

Thank you for the beautiful compliment and for the encouraging words about my set Rainer.

Sir, I'm psyched/envious you got to catch Oswalt & Kinane recently. Kyle's a Chicago native apparently; I'm not sure if he did it but there's a bit on his album about needing to use the bathroom in a Cholo bar that is fucking hysterical. I've never seen either of them live; the non-perks of living at the ass end of the world.

Where'd you move from?

(And more importantly; why?)

Fixed gear bikes - what is the fucking deal? I absolutely do not understand the attraction.

That's about all I've got to say about that.

OK.

Just noticed that I haven't posted a blog in nearly a month now.

I am still in a state of gridlock as far as my thesis is concerned, but I have already signed my lease for the Chicago apartment, so I am moving in two weeks, whether I am able to start my PhD next month or not. I am trying so very...

Hedy,

Thanks for the comments.

Despite having grown up in balmy Dixie, I am a fan of cool and cold weather. I have spent a couple years living in the Alps, so between that and my beer baby, I'm not your typical thin-skinned Southern boy. I will, however, require a sun lamp. I can't wait for Autumn!!! Is it generally nice up there? Ours is pretty heavenly, I must say, especially after five months of Summer.

OK. Once again, thanks, and I hope your liver is treating you nicely these days.
