Well, it's done, and I'm no longer a forum admin on RPG.net

I've divested myself of that responsibility, and it feels pretty good - although, as is typical for me, I felt a bit melancholy about it at the time.

All in all, though, it was the right thing for me to do. It's time to move forward again, and I can't do that while...

Oddly enough I can see you in a red velvet smoking jacket, with half naked chickies on each arm. Wait, that's what I want to see. wink

Now that was a damn good time. I'm glad MourningGlory and I's little idea to hit Devil's Point for a bit turned into such a fine gathering.

As always, it was great to see everybody, even the ones I didn't get to speak to much.

There's nothing like DP on a Saturday night.

So to speak.

Just wondering cause I'm going to Lola's Room tonight. I may or may not stop by Dante's to see all or part of the Sinferno.
liante:
Woah, people play that? surreal

I mean, I can kinda-sorta understand some weird little wackjob giggling to himself as he stays up all night typing perv tables on the computer in his parents' basement -- in fact, after reading a large section of the "creepiest gamers" thread, I can envision this a lot more vividly than I'd like -- but the concept of the wackjob then putting his work out on the Interweb for all the world to see, and people reading it, and those people then getting together and trying to play it... that's where my brain pretty much breaks down, sputters out, and dies on the road of understanding.

I'm learning all kinds of things these days. shocked

Alright, people. It's on.

Jen and I are definitely going to Devil's Point tonight, so if you want in, just come on down. We'll be there around 10 at night.

Look for me - I'll be the dude without pants.

Or shame.

Can't forget the lack of shame.

then i commend you, sir, for your daring and fortitude in the face of ugliness. biggrin

Well, I think you kept your pants on, but I saw some other action. Well done!! Always good work, if you can get it. tongue

I had a great time tonight, good to see you again.

It's Friday morning, and I've got the day off.

Last night I had one of those really stupid dreams. In this one, I was in Las Vegas for some reason, and there was an SG themed casino there. The whole thing looked like the Moulin Rouge crossed with a NY wharfside warehouse, and it was filled with dealers and cocktail waitresses dressed like stereotypical SG...

I'm having great fun reading through all the threads about horrible GMs, bonehead players, least spectacular PC deaths and so forth over at rpg.net... but I need to bug you for a translation note, as my Geekerese skills are failing me:

What's a "Mary Sue"? I've seen this term pop up a couple of times now, and the context just isn't giving me enough to figure out the meaning.
liante:
surreal

Woah.

I've gotta say, I have actually had the amazing good luck to never encounter a Mary Sue in my roleplaying career. Well, apart from one shortlived GM's talking ferret. He didn't really last long in our campaign.

"Little Ellen dies of the croup because her mother has neglected to get her shoe repaired" sounds like a pretty good end for one, though.

I couldn't sleep last night, which means I was cruising around when the news about the London Underground started rolling in.

Not a good start to the day. My sympathies to everyone affected.

In much less important news, I'm going to retire as an admin at RPG.net, because I've realized the staff I work with, and the other admin, have different goals than I have....

Surreal nothing. It is perfectly sensical!

Which book?

Also: darn it, I just started getting into rpg.net. Bummer. I'm sure you know what's best to salvage your own sanity, of course, but that's one less area of possible overlap.
liante:
I do not (yet) post there, though I've been thinking of it. Doubt I have the time to sustain another online forum, though; I'm already twice as slow responding here as I ought to be. Mostly I just read the articles and look for interesting ideas to adapt to my own campaign. So, uh, resign away. Yes. Because you needed my permission to do that. Clearly. wink

I do not have that book, I have to admit. But now I'll have to look into poaching a copy. I've been needing more ideas for monks and fighters anyway.

I didn't update my journal on my anniversary.

I love my wife more than anything, and still can't understand why she wastes her time slumming with me.

It's been a good run so far, and I wouldn't trade in a moment of it, even the times that weren't so easy.

At this point, I'm going to restrain myself from becoming embarrasingly sappy. EDIT: Except for...

My wife posts here now, as MourningGlory.

That makes me happy. Very happy. Perhaps she'll show me her boobies.

Oh, and by the way. For those who have not seen it yet: King Kong, the Movie Trailer

No worries. I just wanted to seize the opportunity to gloat about the awesomeness of my doodled dungeons, particularly as I'm working on a new one this afternoon. wink

And yeah, bitter scorn is a requirement of longtime GMs as well. I imagine game designers are the next step up on the hierarchy. You guys must be so marinated in misanthropy.

Sometimes the stupidest shit raises my hackles, to the point where I wonder if my anger at inconsequential things is a defensive reaction to keep me from being really angry at things that matter.

Today, it's the SG faq, and its unneccessary dig at Walter Cronkite and Edward R. Murrow. I mean, my God, how much more pointless can anger get?

And don't get me...

Happy Father's day to those who are, and happy "I don't have any responsibility for little rug monsters" for those men who aren't.

Drink heavily either way.
