Finding housing in NYC is no friggin joke!!
I hate this part....Its always near impossible to find good space at an affordable price..Im not asking for hand outs...but 1300 for a small ass 1br is pushing it!!

How about offering your friends cooking classes for a nice fee? They'd probably still ask you to cook for them but at least you get extra money out of it. Plus you get to threaten them with utensils when they do something wrong.
