I can't really consider myself very widely traveled, but I have been to a great many European countries from my home base in Germany... to the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Poland, Hungary, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy (including the island of Sardinia), Spain (including the islands of Mallorca, Tenerife and Lanzarote), the U.K. (including Scotland and Wales), and Ireland and to some of these countries several times. These days, my favorite country to travel to is Italy, and overall I most enjoy visiting and staying on islands - the channel island of Guernsey, for instance. Cities I especially enjoyed were Stockholm, Barcelona, Budapest, and, more than any other city, Venice.
Further abroad, I have been to the U.S. (and, once, to Canada) about six times, although the last one of these trips is already more than 10 years ago. My favorite places there have included North Carolina, with its islands, and the "Old South" in general, and of course California, with the beautiful city of San Diego standing out in my memory. Favorite cities have been Savannah, Chicago, and Quebec. In terms of fantasy places, I loved visiting both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, and if I still were as big a Disney fan as I used to be, I'd probably say the 10-day WDW vacation we had many years ago was my favorite vacation ever.
Still on my bucket list are Japan, especially Tokyo; Mexico, Brazil, and (South) Korea... plus I've had a pen pal in Sydney, Australia for many years and I'd love to visit him.
