I spent yesterday in Cologne, on a business trip, going by train (some 4.5 hours) in the morning and flying back at night (about 1 hour), all for a 1.5 hour meeting. Happily, I had plenty of time to wander through the city center, where I hadn't been in a good number of years. It happened to be a glorious day, with...

i spent my saturday in a nice town in portugal called tomar discussing the mysteries of the knights templar. it was a marvellous day and some mysteries were disclosed (not too much hahah) and our teacher made a reference to the cologne cathedral (i don't remember why the reference). but it made me wanting to visit the city ;)

A Buddhist monk goes to a hot-dog vendor and asks for a hot dog, handing him a 10$-bill. The vendor prepares the hot dog and hands it to him. The monk asks, "So where's my change?" to which the vendor replies, "Change only comes from within."

I need to try that strategy sometime ;-)

Please join me in welcoming the lovely @menoralle and her equally lovely debut set "Magic Moments" ! She is probably the best thing ever to come out of Belarus ;-)

And speaking of Magic Moments, here is the one and only Perry Como (not Frank Sinatra!) singing his song:

A lovely lady indeed!

Not gonna lie, the Tussock caterpillar is my favourite too. So unique!

I love this (the cartoon, not the prospect of Clinton vs. Bush). I'm aware that as a furriner, I shouldn't even voice an opinion about the U.S. elections, but then I've been deeply interested in U.S. politics for longer than most SGers have been alive. My own views have evolved (I like to think) into where I'm the sort

i kind of feel the same way around partisans.

Hehe. Love the cartoon. I agree with "the other likely candidates are too horrible to even contemplate." Rand Paul is certainly the lesser evil of them all. And I want to know why the campaign-season is so extensive now. Everything is so long and drawn out these days. Same with the holidays, for instance. I see halloween stuff come out in JULY!! And then christmas stuff is out by August!

Well this won't be much of a blog post, as I'm totally pooped after 2.5 hours of traipsing around my favorite Berlin park, dodging blue-haired seniors and deeply inhaling the pollen-laden air, which resulted in a sneeze marathon on the way back. But at least I got these amateurish photos out of it (besides aching feet and swollen sinuses, that is). Note...

it is a lovely park ;)

I love these photos! This looks like such a great park. I will have to add it to my list of places to visit when I get the chance. That fountain is indeed weird, and oddly wonderful because of it.

Because here in Germany we get Easter Monday off, it technically still is Easter, even if just barely. So, here's hoping y'all had a lovely Easter! Mine is bookended, as it were, by two birthday celebrations - my wife's grandma celebrated her 92nd birthday on 03/02 and we're celebrating my wife's great aunt's 90th this coming Friday. At that

Ahh, long weekend! Yay! Sorry about the bummer emails you read through. Best to avoid all email during your weekend.

yeah, I like Rand Paul. I prefer Ron. But I infinitely prefer Rand Paul over Jeb Bush.

90 and 92 year old lassies! Your wife comes from strong stock. <3

I don't use the term "goddess" lightly, although maybe around SG I sometimes do, but if any one deserves to be thusly addressed, it should be the one and only @exning

Have you seen her new set, Bloomed Hearts ? It's everything I want to see in an SG set... a gorgeous woman, beautiful ink, a lovely setting, color and mood perfectly composed and...

She is super cute in this one ^^

One recent homework assignment by @lyxzen and @missy was to list or describe favorite smells... I suppose I'm not being terribly original when I say that among my favorite aromas are the smells of freshly brewed coffee or freshly baked bread wafting through the kitchen, the smell of a garden or a forest right after a rain, that old aroma staple, vanilla (if it...

Nice list. I'm with you on the post-rain scent of a garden and forest, citrus and herbs. I can understand why you like chemical smells. I used to sniff rubber glue A LOT when I was in high school because I was in yearbook staff. Explains a thing or two, eh? Do you like the smell of gasoline? I LOVE it so much. I'm not even kidding. :-D

I'm not sure how big the news of the German plane crash are in the U.S. and elsewhere... we here are absolutely shocked and dumbstruck, especially at the ever-clearer picture that emerges of the co-pilot intentionally crashing the plane for whatever reason. If true, and we may never know beyond conjecture, this would be so unimaginably evil or sick...the very thought of...

It is definitely global news. Two Australians are among the dead :( It's such a tragedy.

in portugal, the news have spread fast. and it was a great shock to everyone. at least for me it was... :(

You know how writing can be therapeutic? I read some other blogs with a great deal of interest and see how it can be therapeutic to write at length about your inner workings. And I'm fairly certain that no one I know in real life is here on SG, so I can safely write about all I care to share. Don't keep on...
