"Because of the one-pointed Time awareness in which the conventional mind remains immersed, humans tend to think of everything in a sequential, word-oriented framework. This mental trap produces very short-term concepts of effectiveness and consequences, a condition of constant, unplanned response to crises."

I was an idiot yesterday. I had the option of attempting to say something or to keep my mouth shut. Either way,...

Its always rough when you know that you are damned if you do and damned if you don't. Situations like that tend to paralyse me and I end up doing nothing by default (and conveniently forgetting that doing nothing is still doing something and that by not making my mind up about which course to take, I have nevertheless chosen a course even if its only the course of least resistance).

"If you believe certain words, you believe their hidden arguments. When you believe something is right or wrong, true or false, you believe the assumptions in the words which express the arguments. Such assumptions are often full of holes, but remain most precious to the convinced."

"To suspect your own mortality is to know the beginning of terror;
to learn irrefutably that you are mortal is to know the end of terror."

There are interesting things in the works. I seem to be making a lot of contacts and connections that I need right now, or may be very useful in the future. I've been in stagnation far too long, but...

"These are illusions of popular history which a successful religion must promote: Evil men never prosper; only the brave deserve the fair; honesty is the best policy; actions speak louder than words; virtue always triumphs; a good deed is its own reward; any bad human can be reformed; religious talismans protect one from demon possession; only females understand the ancient mysteries; the rich are doomed...

"The convoluted wording of legalisms grew up around the necessity to hide from ourselves the violence we intend toward each other. Between depriving a man of one hour from his life and depriving him of his life there exists only a difference of degree. You have done violence to him, consumed his energy. Elaborate euphemisms may conceal your intent to kill, but behind any use...

"Beyond a critical point within finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans in the finiste space of a planetary ecosystem as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who do survive."

Did you know that 'embargo' spelled backwards is 'o grab me'?

Being sick sucks. How am I supposed to really enjoy the weekend if I'm all stuffed up and hot and cold and achy? Whine, moan, bitch, and complain. Okay, I'm done.
Go on about your business.

You absolutely should let me know. I'd like to go shooting with new people. I only go with the same two people every time, and they're somber and not very much fun.

Congrats on getting to see your daughter. That's awesome.

Misgiving Catechism

Poised on this humble
Mountain a gargoyle of
Sanguine ambience

Fervent brand pressed on
Torrid lips this sardonic
Tryst of false rapture

A masquerade of
Chimeric impressions bleed
Empyrean scrim

This nebulous mist
A murky imbroglio
Hangs low in the sky

With libran passion
A sea of cinereal
Effluvium swim

To linger thus in
Melacholy presence or
To the placid grave
