Lots and lots has been going on. I'm just barely able to keep up, but at the end of the day I'm enjoying that it's all happening.
Had my last swim lesson this past week. I can do flip turns now. (!!!!) And I think I'm nearing the point with the butterfly where it starts to be a buff-ifying stroke.

Thanks for your comment. I've tried talking about things with my parents, and I've invited them to come to these family nights, but they really aren't receptive. It's reached the point where I have to accept their limitations and learn how to get what I need elsewhere, and I know that, it just isn't easy.
Have fun in Miami. I'm jealous!

Dude I'll take any help I can get. I need to practice =]. I also got a cool little effects pod, so you can name a preset: NadzOfDistortion! hahahha
I've been wondering whether I'm the only one who read that article (online, some big news outlet somewhere) about some bishop in Ireland who officially moved St Patrick's Day to the 15th this year. Sounds a little ridiculous. Convenient that that falls on a Saturday instead of a Monday, isn't it?

I'm looking for a new song to have stuck in my head all day. I've had I think four for the past few weeks that I keep cycling between.
I'm finding myself more exclusive these days about being attracted to people with class. Not society/money class (which really isn't class), but genuineness and civility-type of class. Of late I've found and made sure to appreciate...

What are the four that you've already gone through?
I'll try to cover the board here since I know moods are constantly changing
Consequence of Sounds - Regina Spektor (if you can't find it let me know, i'll email it to you)
About to Happen on Siouxsie's solo record is incredibly catchy, but you probably already know that!
Still In Love - The Stills (the entire first record is awesome. the 2nd one doesn't do it for me)
Me & Mr. Jones - Amy Winehouse (or Back to Black - really her album is great)
Everything's just wonderful - Lily Allen (this whole album is awesome)
Because I'm Awesome - The Dollyrots
Dead Disco and/or Combat Baby - Metric
Paper Planes - M.I.A. (seriously, try to get this fucker out of yr head)
Matthew Modine and/or Marlon Brando's Laundromat - Pony UP!
Such Great Heights - The Postal Service
If you let me know what the other songs were I'd have a better idea of what to look for.
Hope this helps.
Its hard to find unselfish people.
When you do, befriend them right away.
They are usually the friends who you keep for years and years.

Haha. You love boobs.
I was so happy to see the Siouxsie Sioux show on Friday. That lady's still got it. No one in the crowd really warmed up to her new songs, but boy did they unleash for the classics. I didn't expect it, but I got my Hong Kong Garden, and left happy.
I've caught it. Whatever nastiness is going around. I think I'll be able to...

I'm so jealous! What a great show that must have been. I can't really complain since I finally saw the Pixies and can now die a happy woman, no matter what else has happened in the interim.
The best cold remedy that I've found that's actually palatable (my grandma does make a very effective, but disgusting concoction with honey, lemon, & garlic) is those Emergen-C packets dissolved in water. They're awesome-3 of those a day for 2 or 3 days and I'm much better. Hope you feel better soon.
Now I want a good cold apple.

I finally tried oatmeal for the first time ever two days ago.
(No, I'm not kidding).
Trying to introduce it into my life/diet as an option for breakfast or a snack. We'll see.
I threw some milk, brown sugar, and cinnamon in there.
Could've been worse.

I cheat and buy the Quaker instant flavors of oatmeal.

I had that for breakfast.
You should try it with some nuts, like pecans or walnuts. Put them in when it's cooking, not at the last minute, so they cook too and the texture of the nut gets softer. And cinnamon and brown sugar are a must.

I've not quoted from Lolita in a while because I've had so little time to read more of it. This stood out to me:
"There is nothing wrong... say when a brute of forty, blessed by the local priest and bloated with drink, sheds his sweat-drenched finery and thrusts himself up to the hilt into his youthful bride."
Just a few days ago someone called...

The "up to the hilt" line was one of the most memorable for me when I read it, too....it's just a great image, huh?
I'd never sleep if I lived in NYC. Seriously. It's probably great for me that nothing goes on here after 3 am for the most part. You're lucky.

Quite psyched to find out that Brooklyn was 46th amongst new baby names in 2007, up from 100-something the year before.

Thats the best schedule! Just don't work during the day. I come in and work all night all the time. I LOVE walking home at 6am after I still hit a deadline and watch the sun rise on NYC. Own the fucked up schedule! Spend time seeing the city during the day.
Ok daytime fieldtrips me and you. Do you have a camera? Ill get one for you to borrow. Next week photo safari during business hours!

I've been meaning to post about my last weekend since, er, last weekend.
I went to Savannah, GA for the first time ever for a friend's 30th birthday weekend for 4 days. Unbelievable.
The 15 of us truly got the most out of Savannah, (which is stunning), and then the most out of some alcohol and some antics-prone people back at our hotel.

_biblia_:
i will get you your recipe, good sir.
vegemite:
Plantains with Rum and Brown Sugar:
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/2 cup light brown muscavado sugar
3 ripe plantains, peeled and sliced on the bias into 1/2-inch thick slices
1/2 cup dark rum
Heat butter in a large saute pan over high heat. Add the sugar and cook until melted. Add the plantains and cook until soft and heated through. Remove pan from the heat, add the rum, return to the heat and cook until the alcohol has reduced.
serve with a bone-in pork shoulder marinated in orange and lime w/ cilantro. Unless of, course you're a veg head, in which case serve with tempeh in adobo sauce
or in a sweet pineapple mole - this guy is the king of mole. OK, maybe not the king, but a good source nonetheless.
