Today is my 30th birthday! I thought it wouldn't feel any different from other birthdays, but at midnight last night, when H-- wished me a happy birthday, I did have a moment of reflection that was like, "Whoa!" I do think I'm much more mature and together than I was at, say, 25. And the last year of my life has brought so many changes...

Things are going well. I'm still happy with H--. My job is seriously rocking, and I'm making a good reputation for myself in the company. So, yeah. I'm happy I moved.

Of course, I miss my friends in New York, but I do email everyone and Skype with my family. I miss my cat, but my parents are taking good care of him, and they...

Oh, I know there is always FB or Twitter... just won't be the same around HERE with you gone. I'm losing all the people that I had a real connection with here... makes me wonder why I hang on to the site. Maybe it's time I let things lapse as well?
hooeylewis:
Well I know that I need to get a 2nd job for at least a few months. I also realize that I need to focus on day to day goals instead of only looking at the big picture. I am sad that you are leaving SG. You are one of the cooler people on this site.

Today feels like pretty much the best day ever. My knee has been feeling better bit by bit, so I tried to do a couple of basic Taekwondo forms-- and I could do it! I'm one step closer to being back in fighting shape.

Once I'm fully recovered (which I honestly estimate will be a few more months), I'm going to study either Aikido or...

My knee is a bit gibbled too at present. Don't overdo it, though keep up the good work smile xo

Fair enough. Expression is individualistic, and Im all for freedom of choice. It just seemed he was trapped between who he was born, and who he wants to be; yet not really either. It was like an identity limbo, almost sad really.

I might be taking a vacation to Seoul in May. This is amazing for several reasons:

1. It's such an easy trip (from Japan) when formerly it was so far away (from New York).
2. I have a job from which I can take time off without losing money.
3. I have a job that pays me enough to be able to afford a trip....

I'm back in Kyoto and have been living with H-- for about a week now. It's good. It's been a long time since I've lived with anyone else, but I think it's nice so far. I have no deluded expectations that it will be perfect or anything like that, but I'm happy.

It's exciting that we get to start our lives together like this, and...

Awesome pics! I actually didn't have a problem with the people there. Probably because I got there late, so it wasn't too crowded. I had a lot of fun at the show, makes me wanna bring home a zoo! biggrinbiggrin Have a safe trip!!

I'm moving to Japan in, like, 2 days. Whoa.

It's unnerving not knowing how long I'll be there, and people keep asking me. The minimum is one year, since I signed a work contract for that amount of time. The maximum is, well, permanently, since if I marry H-- it makes more sense for us to be in Japan than in the U.S. And even...

You're gonna be so far, but soooo happy!!! I can't wait to hear all your stories, and to maybe possibly hear you speak a little Japanese? Yes? I love you, Lola! And I'm so excited for this new chapter in your life!!! Just tell people that you'll be there for as long as you're there! Meanwhile, I'll start saving up for a ticket to visit!

Yeah she already knows. Im a fairly straight forward guy. She likes it the way it is, and she wants to deal with what she has before complicating her life. I can respect that, and wouldn't get involved with someone who will better deal her partner behind their back.

Looks like you are having fun smile Kyouto is a great place, especially the samurai movie set. Ahh how I envy you...that curry picture was honto natsukashii! I lived in Akita prefecture (in the north) and loved it, travelled around Japan quite extensively for having only lived there for a year. I think the best visit was to Sapporo for a week for the snow festival...they have heated sidewalks.

You should do fine there, linguistically speaking, as long as you stick to major cities. A year after I left, a friend went over for awhile and i Helped him adjust (via email) in his first 3 weeks in Sendai....and he didn't know any Japanese, nor did he want to learn. As long as you are trying, you'll kick ass! :-D
