Hey, kids! It's another update from Your Friendly Neighborhood Freak.

Did you miss me? Who am I kidding, of course you did. And I missed you all as well. kiss

My vacation to The Big Apple was a smashing success. As I mentioned before, I stayed w/good friend Rachel (aka Sharonaaaaa) and her folks in Queens (in quite a lovely neighborhood, FYI), who were all gracious hosts in putting me up for the time I was there. smile

DISCLAIMER: This is easily the most intensive blog I've written in some time. So, a few caveats:

1. Lots of pics. Those of you stuck w/dial-up, be forewarned.
2. Lots of parentheses.
3. I would've taken more pics, but...you know how when you spend so much time packing for a big trip away, you always manage to forget something? Yeah, the camera charger was that thing. blackeyed

Also, due to the sheer size of my blog (get yer minds outta the gutters, perverts...not that I mind the good publicity, of course tongue ) I'm breaking it up into two parts. I'll post the 2nd half later this week. I'm posting the pics early, but if you just look @the pics w/o reading the sharp wit that is my blog, the terrorists win! tongue

Now that we've dispensed w/the pleasantries...

SPOILERS AHOY!

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

thefreak's Adventures in Noo Yawk - Part I

Friday, April 13

*ahem*

My buddy/ hetero life mate Justin (aka evlwraithe1) was nice enough to drive me to Union Station in Worcester ("Woostah," for any fellow Massholes reading along wink ) so I could catch my train. I've never traveled by train before, so it was a cool experience. Even though I've never flown, I still say I prefer taking the train, because, you know, no freefalling from thousands of feet and so forth.

After a quick transfer in Springfield (and one Amtrak worker w/a bad attitude later) I arrived in Penn Station that evening. Now, I've never been. It's friggin' huge. Only Grand Central tops it. So, after a rousing game of Cellular Marco Polo, I finally caught up w/Rachel, hugged, said hellos, and we began to traverse our way through the station, all the while checking out the various stores, restaurants and booths contained within.

I had only been in NY about 20 minutes, when I got to see a midget. This vacation was already going well, indeed. biggrin

Due to my long travel, we decided to just go home and relax for the evening. I met Rachel's folks, then we retired to flipping through the channels and browsing SG. I then went to sleep, to rest up for the eventful weekend ahead.

Saturday, April 14

Day 2 was easily the best weather the whole time I was there. Bright and sunny, mid 50's. I only wish I had taken more pics that day.

It started off in the morning with traveling back to the city.

We ate breakfast ^here^, and who did we meet up w/then...

...but SG Chat celebrity (and cute as a button) KaiTHANX!

Rachel had to disappear to take her teacher's certification test (which she was convinced she was going to fail, even though we both told her she would kick ass [and she did] so...if you're reading this, told ya so. tongue ) so Kai and I went to the Virgin Megastore to shop around.

Again, never been. Again, friggin' huge. After spending $80-plus dollars on DVDs (The Big Lebowski, the Criterion Collection edition of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and two volumes of The Ping-Pong Club (a quite amusing anime, if that's your thing), we sat in the cafe, chatted, drew comics, whathaveyou.

Oh, we also took some pics.

Me, of course, as big a silly bitch as ever.

We also chatted w/another member who didn't meet w/us for breakfast due to getting lost (his name escapes me @the moment) so we all shot the shit until he took off. Rachel soon met us after her test, and took this pic of the cool little mural/art/whatever thingy on the table we were sitting @in the cafe.

We shopped around more, then headed to Grand Central Station to hop a Metro North to Connecticut and go our seperate ways. Rachel and I ended up in Stratford for Game Night w/members from SGCT.

This was the day where that made the list of SG members I've met IRL more than double. It was @the apartment of Joe and Ola (aka Laerkai and Cinderola, respectively), along with Jamie and Mark (TheLibra and TheTallOne) and......Pete. (My efforts so far in finding out his SN have been in vain.)

From what people said, they believe Joe and I to be separated @birth, due to our love of games and general geekiness. biggrin

(We interrupt this Freak Blog to bring you a Special Report.)

KYOOT WIDDLE KITTIES!

(We now return you to Your Regularly Scheduled Freak Blog, already in progress.)

Sorry, I love cats. biggrin

There's me getting ready to play some Rush on Guitar Hero II. Because, well, Rush is just better than both you and I combined.

We also played an amusing game of Cranium, as well an equally amusing round of Munchkin.

Rachel was feeling quite under the weather all night, but she was still able to ham it up for the camera.

In fact, she took that pic, which I happen to like for some reason.

We ended up staying the night, and the next morning, would travel back to NYC.

Part II...COMING SOON

It took a long time to plan out and type. So you kids better appreciate the hard work I put into it. wink

That's all for now, kids. A long-overdue blog commenting excursion now awaits me.

As always, I hope you are all well. smile

Stay tuned...
