Well, I unfortunately just took out my dual horizontal eyebrow piercings on my right brow. I took a bit more of a minimalist approach to aftercare, sort of the LITHA (leave it the hell alone) method. I stuck with regular sea salt soaks until I felt like the fistula was developing and the tenderness was down. I then just continued washing but started using Dr. Bronners instead of Provon and would use either some salve or Emu Oil to keep them from being so dry.
After reading some more at the APP website (www.safepiercing.org) I realized that I had maybe been being too rough on the piercing while washing them.
The real reason I took them out is that they seemed to be affecting my sleep, I would wake up a couple of times a night because I dragged my face across my pillow while shifting and it would jerk it pretty good. I also skateboard and ride long board and was finding that I continually would catch them with my hand when I went to wipe sweat from my brow.
Its unfortunate to have spent the money on something that didn't last as long as I would have hoped but overall I am glad to have been able to learn from them.
The next time I make the 3 hour drive to see my piercer (yes, thats right, I travel THAT far to see one person... trust me, he is that good) I am thinking I will either get the other side of my nose for dual nostril piercings (I have the left already) done as well as my septum, or either a Prince Albert and my nostril. We shall see!
