I have had sushi once prior to last night and I was noy impressed. Last night I gave it another go and I even managed to use chopsticks. The sushi last night was very delightful. I am a fan of what they called a philly roll. It was avacado, cream cheese, and asperagus inside, salmon outside. I had that because the I figured I liked all the ingredients and I am partial to lox so the salmon could not be too different right. I think the biggest realization last night was I don't like wasabi. I figured this out by eating some of the variety plate that I also ordered. I was fine if I removed the fish and ate it alone. Next time, no wasabi.
The chopsticks is another story. I have never been able to manipulate those to small stick of wood without making a fool of myself. I usually just spear the food and give up and use a fork. Well I carefully placed pine to rice and was able to lift those succulent morsels to my eager mouth. I was soon dipping them in soy and eating like a real pro, yeah right, we will settle with the fact that I was eating.
The idea was put in my head to give it another go after working at the anime expo. I was on the workshops staff and one of our presenters was Caddy who is a sushi chef and whose presentation was wonderful, I only wish we could have offered samples but alas health codes prevented it.
Will I eat sushi again, yes. I will use the philly roll as a standby and expand from there. I like shrimp and crab and I saw some on the menu.
