</delay> yeah, I think Evan Dando is a bit yawn too, but I do love It's a Shame About Ray, and they were playing just that album the night I was shooting them. Photographers were allowed in for just the first 3 songs, IASAR being amongst those 3 I didn't have to stay for the yawning. The photos are a bit boring too. Oh well.

getting paid 3 times a year is a total pain in the ass. in my other MA program, we got pain on a monthly basis. while we used to joke that it was like being on welfare (woohoo! first of the month!) ... it made budgeting easier.

i also have reimbursement checks coming. ahhh... cash.

I stayed up until 1:30 just to finish a Harry Potter book. I am the biggest tool I know.

About a year and a half ago, I made a New Year's resolution to learn how to play the Rogers and Hart standard "You Are Too Beautiful" on the piano, without reall knowing how to play the piano. I am happy to report that, a year and a half later, I finally learned how to play it. I now need to learn more songs, because...

I think something bit me. It looks like I grew a nipple on my leg. Yuck.

Ever notice that certain bits of music are best suited by certain formats? For example, I couldn't imagine listening to Miles Davis's Kind of Blue except on my crackly, worn, $3 LP. Also, the first Danzig album is just perfect on cassette. Some things are best suited to mp3,...

I have a mildly overwhelming list of things to do before I move. Among them is to find a place to live. I've been given some hints on good areas of Seattle. I just need to find something close to work so that I can ride my bike to work. Actually, I don't have a bike. I'm talking about my future bike, the bike I...

That scares me because in a year when I graduate I'll probably be moving half way across the country too.

Jesus, where have you guys been?

Okay, so I haven't updated in a long, long, time. Thanks to those who stuck around. Thanks even more to those who expressed concern. As you can see in my profile picture, I'm fine, if a little bored.

Things have actually been going really well for me. I finally got around to finding a job. I applied to, interviewed...

I hate it when my bagel has shared a container with donuts and takes on a sweet flavor.

Other than that, my week's going pretty well. I won a $500 prize that they give every year to one graduate student in physiology. The weather's been really great. My band is playing a show tonight for the first time in forever (see "events"). I had a...

Hiya.

Had a great weekend after a really lousy week.

I did a LOT of birdwatching. On Saturday, I saw 67 different species in Jackson Park, and nobody called me "white boy" this time. Sunday's weather wasn't as nice, but I did see some great birds then too. For the weekend, I must have seen about 75 species, including 3 that I had never seen...

Okay, so I'm back.

Sorry I've been away so long. Did I sort out what needed sorting out? Not really. Do I have a good reason for being gone? Probably, but it's none of your business.

But hell, I was bored without you guys.

While I've been gone, there's been some excitement (both good and bad).

I've had some interest from a couple of the...

Seattle or New York, eh? nice dichotomy, there. it makes the choosing that much more dramatic.

Boy, if you all had a nickel for every time I've said, "I'm not sure where yet, but I'll be moving away from Chicago sometime soon."

Well, I finally took my first step towards figuring out where and when. I sent my CV (kind of like an academic resume for those who don't know) to three labs. We'll see if/when I hear back from them....
