Finally moved...and already, things are a ton better. My ex-roommate turned out to be...unstable (looong story), but I had seen it coming, thankfully. And within weeks, my quality of living has increased a dozen-fold. Internet (porn), a roommate that cooks, and $80 a month cheaper, to boot!
And, oh yeah - I gots me a new boy:

This is Cohen. Cohen is awesome. Soon I will teach Cohen to walk upright and together start a Vaudeville revival act. Oh, yes.
In Sadder News...George Carlin and Stan Winston, within a week of each other...!?!?!?
After a series of Frustrating Events, which is such a long-winded and ridiculous tale that any sane person would be reluctant to believe it wholeheartedly, I was set to finally get my car issues settled by the end of the week. After months of driving in fear of The Man, one ticket under my belt (from a kind and understanding police officer) and various unsuccessful attempts to acquire a replacement title for my car, the light at the end of the tunnel was finally starting to show.
Until this morning.
Waking up a bit early, I decided to be productive ,and run a few errands before work. And after dropping off my Netflix at the post office (how ironic...since I work for Netflix, and the post office is closed today, making said action completely useless in the first place, but anyways...), I was already to continue my daily commute, singing along to the Monkees' "Daydream Believer".
But Fate, it seemed, took umbrage with my happy tune, and placed the absolute slowest driver in the world (10 MPH in a 35 MPH zone) in front of me, and a bored cop behind me, who pulled me over three blocks later. The offiicer was quick to scoff at my plight, and the numerous articles of evidence proving I was hard at work at fixing any of my legality issues. And a very long fifteen minutes later, I was footing it back to my apartment, a small pile of my belongings in arm.
The man in blue finally took some level of pity on me (I'm fairly easy to pity), and offered to remove the more costly to fines, so long as I am able to muster up the $650 it's going to cost just to get the car out of impound.
Which now leaves with with two separate court dates, a 90 minute commute time to work, and approximately $1300 in various fines and fees. And of course, looking forward to a future of overtime at work, fallen arches, and saving every damn penny for the foreseeable future.
Good Fuck.
....on a brighter note; my birthday was a lovely affair, full of pleasant conversations, explorations of the city, and of course - booze. Jim, Gabby, and I spent four days discovering the beauty of the Oaks Amusement Park, tasting the fine cuisine of the Doug Fir Lounge, and getting lost in Powell's Books. A SPecial thanks to Spencer and Amanda for helping me toast the town for my birthday (sadly, we never did find the Velvetria...). All in all, it was just nice seeing my family (now if I could only get Big Brother Mike and/or my mom up here...!).

I'm finally starting to love this town. Not that I didn't appreciate it before, but it's now finally beginning to feel like home.
Unfortunately, part of that means risking serious alcoholism, as you can't go anywhere interesting in this town without the temptation of booze at your fingertips. Any normal sort of place of business has been combined with an Alcohol license to ensure that whatever combination activity or outing you may desire has been given the additional option of beeing completely pissed at the same time. Movie theater and bar? Check. Video Arcade and bar? Check. Hair salon that serves beer? You bet. Laundry Mat and bar? But of course!
That coupled with the barrage of decent music, cheap food, and $2 beers makes it a wonder how my liver and I are still on speaking terms, and almost thankful that I manage to even spend any time at home...
We like to believe that we're all deep, complex creatures - unpredictable, and far too unique to be easily dissected or categorized. But in truth, we're actually fairly transparent. Our experiences affect our motives. Our motives dictate our actions, and our actions help to create our experiences. We all want the same basic things (to be loved, to be respected, to be comfortable, to be remembered, to be wise, to be happy, etc, etc..)
We all have an image of ourselves; of the person we want to be, and the person we hate to admit to being. But regardless of the methodology, in the end, it all comes down to the same thing; we're searching for that same pot at the end of the rainbow (we just have our own idea of the perfect shortcut.) It's just a matter of which particular set of values we emphasize.
I'm rarely shock by people's behavior, these days. Sometimes disappointed, sometimes relieved, but very rarely shocked...
(sorry...working customer service always makes me kind of a philosophizin' asshole ...)
Anyways...
Life continues to be good...now I just wait for a paycheck, which I will then promptly blow on Ikea, Buffalo Exchange, and Trader Joe's.
And perhaps one night of heavy drinking...although I am quite happy to stay away from any regular bouts of alcohol-consumption...

Oh, and one more thing I love:

I can't believe I'm back.
(And what a two years it has been...)
(I missed you all.)
Wow, it's been a while.
Life is rather hectic right now. In a really good way, for the most part. I'm finally back into playing music, which is wonderful. And I've been getting back into art again, which has been really exciting. And most recently, I've been delving into politics once more, and what's going on in this crazy country of ours.
Seeing alot of great movies ("Outfoxed", "Fitzcarrauldo", "The Front", and finally "Scarface"), thanks to my cinemaphile ladyfriend. Thanks, M...
Wish I had more time to talk...I miss you all! I will write more tomorrow, hopefully...
Before I go: tell me the best things that's happened to you recently.
