if ever there were a time to drink, now would be it.
a few days ago i was at pioneer square (a large, open plaza) in downtown portland, taking pictures of the plants that they had out for some market festival thing. i had just gotten my 28-105mm lens and was enjoying the fact that i could zoom on people unsuspected.
there was a woman there, quite stunning, very quiet, and by herself. she was enjoying the sun and looking over the square, looking very peaceful. so i snapped a few shots of her at the end of my roll before being interrupted by an older woman who wanted me to take a few pictures of her with her painting. by the time i got the camera off of my eye, the beauty that had been standing there contemplating was gone.
11:00am saturday morning (about a week later, maybe less) - phone call (wakes me up) from a police sargeant. the nice woman whose photos i had taken and who had then disappeared from my field of view was murdered.
today was NOT a good day. i am depressed abnout the whole situation without really having too much of a connection with this girl. she had the appearance of being smart, friendly, smiley (hard to find people that smile naturally), and one of thos people that simply enjoy life. and now she is dead because someone murdered her. i really hope that they catch the person who would dare hurt someone like her. it is a pit of the stomach feeling that i want "justice" for her - meaning that her murderer get the maximum sentence that there is for such a crime.
life is simply unfair.
now i need to turn 21 and go get drunk.
