So much stuff has happened since the last post, socially, musically, workic..ally (?) and so on. Managed to fit in various gigs, such as Albert Hammond Jr which was AWESOME. The highlight was the stage invasion by all the students at UCL, then when it dissapated the band had given their guitars to a couple of spritely Japanese chicks who were jamming on them (badly) before following them offstage, giggling like crazy! Poor gals were chucked out a side door, but the smiles on their faces said they'd lived a dream that evening. Albert Hammond Jr played a fantastic set, with In Transit being the obvious highlight.

Other than that, Simian Mobile Disco at the Scala really hit the spot. SMD ARE INCREDIBLE performers (given one of them had a broken collarbone), very animated and as good as any live band. Sleep Deprivation kicked it off and they ran through all the hits off the album Sustain, Decay, Release with enough sheer energy to power most of Tokyo. Support was provided by an awesome group called XXTeens, who come across like Joy Division reflected through a disco ball, with the craziest bassist ever witnessed by man. My friend who attended instantly fell in love, and after some initial jibes by myself and the guy next to me, I found myself completely mezmerised. Awesome. If you're into Battles, worth checking out.

A couple of weeks ago I witnessed the awesomeness of Maximo Park at the Brixton Academy. Paul Smith is a living textbook in how to front a band, leaping around, posing and generally acting the crazy, his antics uplifting even the rather more dull choons from their second album. Support came from The Maccabees and another rather dull band, the former being possibly one of the worst, least-memorable acts I've ever had the misfortune to witness. I recommend you stay away.

Next up? Who knows! Maybe 65 Days Of Static. No plans on the...
