i'm sorry. they look very handsome in that photo. i'm sure he was very proud to have such an intellegent. witty grandson.
pharaoh:
if we lived in the same town we would totally hang out and be bros. and we'd invite vutek along.

a friend asked me to write a story about portable toilets. i was reading italo calvino, and came to the word "gunboat", i wrote a story about a battle at sea happening inside the chemical pit of a portable toilet.

inspiration is everywhere, if you refuse to look for it.

i heart john cage. and i heart mushroom gathering.
aster:
we need to go for coffee someday.
pharaoh:
you mean the fun mushrooms??? i love that kind.

next, will you write a story about the one day when all the non-smokers smoked? the original reason for this was that they were all sad over something, but they're has to be a much cooler reason.

no?

okay.

23 hours at work in the last two days.

i saw arianna huffington up close. i almost met hans blix, un weapons inspector.

highlight: i met pico iyer, possibly the most interesting travel writer around.

saturday, i'll be picking dj spooky up at his hotel and assisting him at a book reading.

it's the book store event marathon.

Hobnobbing with the celebs....and cerebral ones at that...
Um, I got high with George Clinton at a party once...
pharaoh:
i'm about halfway done and so far i love the book, but damn! two typos! i should edit books. that shit never gets past me. i'm always baffled at how misspellings can make it into print.

i'm gonna have to pass that onto my dad when i'm done.

it's the field of dreams guy, right?

how are the chemicals doing?
pharaoh:
the package came, and so fast!

wow, that certainly could be taken a few different ways.

thank you!

i'm going to portland for a few days, so now i know what i'll be reading on the flight...

still in first!

off to read a couple of my stories in front of people.

one's about hands. one's about molehills.

bennington rejected my application.

my grandfather is 88, and needs surgery because he may have cancer.

my friend wes is gone, and "someone" doesn't really seem interested.

okay, so that would be a hell of a lot of bad news for one week. life-changing bad news.

but, to hell with it. bring it on. i can take it.

if you need a cheer-up, listen to these things i've overheard recently:

"I'm in the market for Star Trek sheets."

"More stress in your life can lead to better health."

and the best one -

"So you're suckin' a days worth of toe."

all things i never would have expected to hear.
pharaoh:
not only did i already kill the sexplayer, and the bass player, but it killed BOTH bass players.

GVSB - music for burglarizing houses. just think about it...
it's perfect for a movie.

i'm feeling angry lately. i want to read something beautiful (but not fluffy) to soothe me. recommendations?
long, short, it doesn't matter.

i might just re-read Gatsby. i fucking love that book.

a local writer, and regular visiter to my book store passed away. i considered him a friend.

"someone" seems completely disinterested.

so, that was my day.
aster:
sigh. something must have changed...sad to hear it, though. i'm finding it tough to decipher the vagaries of the heart. frown

took a nice walk to the woodland park rose garden to read the last issue of the believer. this time of year, the rose garden has no roses. a woman was on a cell phone, talking to a friend, complaining about the lack. i enjoyed the sunshine.

walking up to my building, i heard some sort of asian pop song drifting down from an open...

i wish i knew the words to asian pop songs! but alas, i am a bit of a banana (yellow in appearance, white on the inside).

i hope you see "someone" soon...

okay, so this show the swan? take a bunch of women who don't think they're attractive, give them a lot of surgery to make them attractive, and then have a contest to convince them they're still not pretty enough?

is that right?

a new album.

and it's amazing.

i think "someone" is supposed to be back now. let the agonizing shyness begin.
pharaoh:
i took this picture 5 years ago today.

is there anything going on in seattle? i would imagine something impromptu.
vutek:
just a note to say:

dude...the book is just spectacular.

makes me sad: the name aster in gray.
pharaoh:
well, it looks like none of the job stuff matters anyway, cause they didn't call me back. and they didn't offer health insurance.

but i've got an interview at Tower records on tuesday. i've worked for them before, so i know what to expect. the young punk in me really really hates uniforms of any sort.

i think it's bullshit to think that in 2004, in HOLLYWOOD of all places, that anyone would give a shit about tattoos. so dumb.

books, books, books....
who knows. i love John Irving and Kurt Vonnegut and Fitzgerald and stuff like that. but lately i've been reading a lot of non-fiction. i just read fast food nation, and i'm about to start Srebrenica. i'm open to most anything.

sooo.....
