boobs.
so i finally won my battle with the employment insurance faction of the canadian government. so much rage and anxiety....but i finally got my money. it ended in a final 8:00 am shouting match with a particularly rude and disgruntled employee. 2 days later i had half of the wages i would have made in a month at my old insurance job.
in other words, i finally had money to buy christmas presents
other than that, i've been picking up a few shifts at the old office. so that's been good. it's been nice to get out of the house at least.
my ankles are pretty much permanently damaged from my time in retail. my christmas shopping has to be done in small bursts.
also i now have to practice all my recipes to make sure all my baking will go well when i do my baskets. this year i'm hoping to accomplish:
salted chocolate covered caramels
cocoa marshmallows
snickerdoodle cookies
mini bundt pound cakes (my lemon cream cheese pound cake is my go-to dessert recipe, and what i get the most compliments on out of all my baking)
key lime tarts
apple pie cookies (essentially bite size apple pies, without the pan)
aaand pretzels
i'm going to be busy. i think i have to do something like 10 baskets. well, i don't HAVE to, but i plan to, and once i've decided i'm going to do something, i have a hard time talking myself out of it. luckily i can do the candy a few days in advance, i can make the pound cakes in advance and freeze them, and i can refrigerate the cookie dough early too.
i'm looking forward to the test runs
tomorrow we decorate the tree, do a bit more shopping, and watch movies. my stepsister is home from school for the semester, so it's time to get busy with christmas prep

things get a little crazy in my house.
things i love lately:
american horror story
the new season of misfits
rereading books
the dudesons!! how have i never seen them before?! their finnish accents make everything they say awesome and hilarious

things are going to be hectic and crazy. i'm trying to gear up for the (at least) 5 christmas celebrations i have to go to over 4 days. i need some generic kind of presents that don't seem generic. i also have to help my mom with a painting, and maybe do one or two myself.
sorry, i didn't mean for this blog to turn out like a to-do list.
OH and i found a bunch of my old cds and i'm uploading them to my phone. some of my music choices were pretty ridiculous back in the day. aaamazing.
