I should update ...
Yes, today is my Birthday ... but not a very "Happy" one ...
Yesterday while at work, unloading trucks to load in "Million Dollar Quartet" ... I was trying to push a Deck Cart (think large steel cart, about 5'x9'x 5' tall, filled with steel framed flooring panels) only about 6 inches, so the forklift could pick it up from the back of the truck ... when my feet slipped out from under me, causing me to land on my palm ... POP!!! goes my shoulder ...
I filled out an accident report ... and after lunch, I had to go to the clinic - Employer's request - so off I go ...
Did the mandatory Alcohol/Drug testing ... which I know I will pass, as I haven't done anything in over a year, besides drink, since my incident at U2, which some of you may recall ...
Physician checked me over ...
"Severely sprained, and possibly torn Rotator Cuff, ... needing Physical Therapy"
... is not what I wanted to hear ...
I start P/T tomorrow ...
Today wassupposed to be an all-day affair, with Show Call, working for LMFAO ... about $350
I get there, check in with my Steward, and showed her my Doctor's note ...
"No lifting over 20 lbs.
No pushing and/or pulling over 20 lbs. of force
No reaching above shoulders"
she turns to me and says ... "You are pretty much useless to me" ... and sends me home ...
I know there were some "stand-by's" waiting to see if they get to work. One of them (who tends to get on) ... we'll call him "Bob" ... is in no better shape than I am right now. Bob, has no arms! ... stubs just passed the elbows ... one with a prosthetic and claw ... If he was accepted to work ... I will surely be writing up a formal complaint against my Steward
so now it's just a "time to heal" game ... I hope that Workman's Comp can help, or not screw me out of Un-Emp ... next gig is the out of M$Q, on Sunday(which I may have to get replaced on) ... after that is Scorpions/Queensryche on the 11th, Toby Keith on the 13th, and Vans Warped Tour the 15-16th ... I sure hope I can work by then ... Concert Season is starting ...
Also, ... if I weren't injured, and had to go to P/T ... I would be camping ...
I have been working on my Lil' Truck, and built a snazzy carpet kit for the back ...
I will post pics later in an edit ...

heading to Idaho tomorrow ...
kinda impromtu ...
going to go roto-till my Mom's garden, as a gift for Mother's Day, as nobody there can help out ...
My older brother had surgery on both knees last Jan, ... and I don't really want to see him trying to "fight" the tiller on his knees...
I could've gone camping, or changed my work scheduale to get 3 more days work ... but I think this is worth it
plus ... she has no idea I am coming up, ... and to top it off ...
I'm stopping in Brigham City, to her favorite, not to mention childhood, Drive-Ins, to get her a Chocolate, Banana Malt, and put it in a cooler for the 2 hr drive

wishing it would stop raining ...
I was more than half way finished with my carpet kit project yesterday when it started ...
now it is looking like Noah should be building an Ark!
trying to figure out what's wrong with my ipod Touch ... it's dead
I thought it might be the cable, as I noticed a kink and crack in it
so I bought a new cable ...
it still won't turn on, and my computer won't even recognize it being plugged in ...

Here's a great excerpt from a blog on Jalopy Journal.com on driving older cars (like the 50 merc in this story) in a new car world. Maybe your son will be safer after all...
He was paying attention, driving with two hands, listening to his engine rock instead of KROC. No nonfat triple shot caramel latte in hand, no mobile phone chatter (or God forbid, texting). And it occurred to me just how much more work and dedication it takes just to drive an old car. That the skills it requires to navigate a `kingpin suspension, single-circuit drum brake, manual steering' Jalopy actually makes you a slightly better driver than the 99% out there. You are most likely paying attention to your car, to the road, and to the guy next to you or behind you that is not paying that same amount of attention.
The modern car conveniences of bluetooth, GPS, and the almighty cup holder have lulled today's drivers into a vehicular coma. A vintage hot rod or a custom is a `reset' of sorts, that takes you back to the pure experience of DRIVING an automobile, the connection to what your doing in that moment. Besides all this, your driving down the road in a rolling piece of art that those comatose drivers can't help but notice the beauty of, and respect that you indeed drive it. Hopefully they do long enough to put down their latte, hang up the phone, and drive just a little more connected ...

it's been a while ...
my truck ...
it's still drive-able .... just not pretty anymore. I went to court yesterday, to fight the ticket. Judge said to scheduale a Hearing, while the Courts put out a summons to have the other driver come in, to present her side of the case. I already had to turn down 3 different gigs this week, which all conflicted with yesterday ... I just paid the damn ticket of $120 ...
I could have gone through with it, but seeing as how neither of us had "Collision Coverage", it would have just costed more $ to fight it, and I'm not sure what my work schedual would be like when that date happens ... I will just deal with it. It's an 88 Toyota truck, that I paid $700 for ... as long as Inspections in September don't call it "totalled", because of a bent frame, it will be just fine. If they do claim it so ... I will get it plated in Idaho, at my family's address
meanwhile, ... I am still puttering around on it, making it ready for going camping this summer.
Christy isn't the camping/outdoors type ... to her, nature is best viewed through a window. So, she has granted me permission to go anytime I wish too!
Fog Lights installed ... check
Stereo with Aux in ... check
replacing back glass on shell ... check
next ... I am designing a carpeted storage kit for the back. I found an air mattress that will fit perfectly, after I build the kit. I am also making black-out curtains, that will magnet to the window frames, and fold up neatly in a shoe box. Install some speakers with an amp, a power inverter ... find a cheap laptop, and I can watch movies back there. I already have tons of camp gear, so I don't need anything else ... Summer ... I'm waiting for you!
Work ...
I have been busy lately ...
I drove forklift for Outdoor Retailer ... Largest convention to come to SLC, twice a year ... that was 18 days straight (well two days off of it, but I did work two other gigs).
Ballet West did "Don Quixote" ... wonderful show. We had two scene changes, that happened during the acts. Both had to be done with a blackout curtain, and both with only a minute to move huge set pieces ... other cities would actually have the orchestra play a couple of measures in a loop, to add time. Cheaters!
South Pacific Broadway ... just the load in and out
Zac Brown Band ... all day affair, with show call ...
Mike Berbiglea ... funny guy ... but not a fan of touring comedians with a script ...
Screw Tape Letters by C.S.Lewis ... wonderful show!
tomorrow ...
is "Rock of Ages"
should be fun! I hope to get a show call. It is for two nights ...
Next Week ...
"Blast"
YouTube of it because I can't get it to show up ...
Touring Marching Band?! ... who knew ...
It will be up in Logan, Utah ... about 90 miles away ... I will just get a room vs driving back and forth. I might be Head of Wardrobe for this one *fingers crossed*
other than that, just a couple of big Corporate Conventions coming up (which means better money
30% on top of base salary
)
and "Beauty and the Beast" Broadway makes a quick stop ( one week = 8 shows) later this month ...
other than that ... not a whole lot to report ... I am sick of this SNOW!!!
kiss kiss, bang Bang!

I chose one back in '84, and have been sticking to it ever since ...
I gave up any Religious Premonitions wink

Yes, I am insured(Liability) and so is the other driver. I have to call the courts next week to schedual a hearing ... It was dark, and raining, just after 6pm ...
I was pulling out, from a stop sign to make a left turn, crossing two oncoming lanes. She was in the closest lane, and I didn't see her until she was about to hit me in the door. I gassed it, she hit my rear wheel. She claims to only be going 30mph ... then why did I get pushed about 15-20 feet and turned sideways, with a bent frame?!
btw ... the posted speed limit is 35 mph on this road ... she was clearly going faster than that. I got cited for "Failure to Yield" ... I hope she got a Wreckless Driving. Her car got front end damage, bumper hanging, air bags deployed ... and towed away. I looked it up, her Kelly Blue Book is $3200 ... it was a 96 Mercury Grand Marquis
My Lil' Toy is not so pretty anymore ...
