Love Hate Love New Orleans....
Visited New Orleans a couple of weeks ago on my way back from an oil rig barge. I love the city, the people, the music, the food. But, it hurts to see the town in the state it is. Canal St. looks like fine for the most part. The cross streets are left in the shadows, with boarded up buildings, and hollowed out shells. The underpasses of most highways shelter tent towns while fortune 500 shops take over the locations once owned by small mom and pop shops. The people are hanging in and it has all the potential to come back. It's just painful to walk and drive around knowing the state and federal gov't are being negligent in helping the city come back. If you have the opportunity to help, lend the Big Easy a hand.
Had dinner at John Besh's restaurant and can honesty say the man is a culinary god. He should have been the next iron chef. Probably going back and I might even write a review of the menu. Started reviewing places in Austin and hopefully someone will take me up and publish a couple of articles. I don't know a lot, but I do know food.
Cheers
