So it's been a week since everything happened. Not gonna lie, it's been a rough week. Not only have I had to find my own way to work through what happened, but I had to convince my father to go get help. Those of you who know me know how stubborn I am....well guess where I got it from. It took me telling him exactly what he was feeling, over the phone mind you, to get him to realize I know what I'm talking about. Yesterday he finally made the call to the Red Cross support team, and within about an hour he had someone calling him to check in on him and an appointment to see a provider. He told me that he's finally starting to understand what it is I've been dealing with the last 3 years.

My care was a little easier. Tuesday I took the day off of work, went down to the outpatient clinic down the street from the office and saw my therapist. It helped a lot, and yes I did call the RC coordinator as well, but he knows I've been getting myself taken care of so I'm not getting the full court press.

When I got back to work on Wednesday I had a few visitors to my office. The head of Employee Assistance and one of the docs from Mental Health came up to check in with me and to offer the usual "anytime you need to talk" speech. It did feel nice to know they were looking out for me. The week kinda went by on autopilot...didn't do a ton of work, and with everything on Friday I was one of the only people in the office.

I posted this on Instagram a couple of days ago and I felt like I should share it here too..


"Volunteering at the Boston Marathon used to be about the jacket...about having fun and helping out. Next year, its different...next year its to show that we aren't afraid, that we're going to keep running this race every year. You can't stop this...you cant keep this from us."
