So I have been at this weight loss thing / lifestyle change now for 6 months. So far I have lost 82 lbs., I am no longer on High BP medication and my labs (cholesterol, blood sugar, etc.) are all normal and my confidence is slowly being restored. I had some friends who said "that is awesome, what diet are you using?" I think this is sometimes the root of our problem in America - we are always looking for a magic pill or a catchy diet to shed pounds when it really comes down to good old fashioned calorie counting. I tell them all I don't do diets I count calories, follow portion control and I am a firm believer that diets don't work for long term goals; that can only be achieved and maintained through lifestyle change. Call me vain but I will get to my goal weight and maintain it because I want to look good, feel good, be confident once again but also be able to have fun with life.
