I dropped my phone in the toilet yesterday. Cruel fate!

I took it apart and I'm letting it sit. No, I have not put it in rice (weird) or in the oven (stupid).

Let us pray.

Rice is good at reducing moist in the area around it, because rice loves water. If you want to keep the salt in a shaker dry, you put a bit of rice in it as well. It really does make sense, science-wise.

But just letting it sit to dry in the air should work fine as well.

I am prone to this kind of accident as well, so I buy phones that can survive this by being waterproof. So I never really have the cutest phones, but at least mine bounce on the floor (without breaking) due to all the rubber. And I've even dropped a phone in a tile of water during a conversation, picked it up again and talked on smile

And of course: YAY, you're back!
visigoth:
My daughter washed her phone. It still works. I dropped a pager in a urinal once. It sat at the bottom vibrating for about a minute before i got the nerve to pull it out.

The rice is a good idea though, the rice will draw all the moisture out.

Hello! I've been away for a long time. A lot was going on -- I moved! I have two great jobs -- both of which involve a lot of computer use, which makes me not want to do any at-home Internetting.

But I'm not dead, so fear not. More soon, I hope!

Lurve,

It's been exactly one year since I wrote this. I'm still living here. Coincidentally (or perhaps not), yesterday I came home to a long note on my door from Normans widow, Sue.

My living situation (or whatever you want to call it) has been pretty strange in the past year. Mostly just confusing, actually. It goes a little something like this:

I live in...

A high school friend posted these to Facebook. It's weird: I don't feel any older, but I just look so ... really ... well, young here. I don't know how I feel about it. Happy but wistful, I guess.

Now to clarify: I'm not saying "Woe is me! I am not young and pretty anymore!" I know I'm still young and pretty. But I look...

Yes, you were a cutie back in the day ... but man, tell me that doesn't look like a younger Aubrey Rose in the third photo???

Oh, meant to add one of my favorite song lyrics ... "the old grey mare, she ain't what she used to be, ain't what she used to be, ain't what she used to be ... the old grey mare, she ain't what she used to be, many long YEARS ago ..." wink ... alright, I'll counterbalance the unnecessary f'ing with you by saying I hope to see a new set soon, so that should tell you something. Love your blogs.

I found another whisker to add to my whisker collection.

I'm not sure how long I've been collecting these: At least since 1999, because I remember sticking them into the arm of a couch I had back then.

I don't know how many there are. I'm too afraid to count them because they might, like, blow away or something. Maybe one day I'll put on...

Wow, it's been a while. My work has me writing a daily blog, so it sort of drains my blogabilities (hahaha, I just invented that word) every day. Anyway, sorry!

Here, I think that you should order some art from my etsy shop. That will make you feel better.

Your illustrations are fantastic. I really like your style. I'm a writer of stories and comic books-- any interest in a possible collaboration?

I was asked to post some photos of my cottage, specifically I think of some of the clutter / ephemera / oddities / whatever you want to call it. I've been here for three years almost exactly. It's the longest I've lived in one place since I moved out of my parents' house eleven years ago, though I'm not sure how much longer I'll be...

we are both collectors. i have a bunch of old glass apothecary bottles i found in an alley near my home, some still have old medicines in them. i don't know what to do with them at all. i collect way too many things and have nowhere to put them as well, my house is so tiny. but soon i will move and have more space! and a front garden!

So my current fascination appears to be making assemblage art. Inspired by my recent clutter trouble, I'm trying to transition from simply arranging my junk nicely on the windowsill to putting it together as artwork.

I've made some half-assed attempts to do this in the past, but this is the first time I've really put effort to it, and the results aren't totally awful....
