Well, this is certainly unexpected. I thought making the New York Times list was the most surprising thing that would happen with Still Just A Geek, but … Still Just A Geek is a finalist for the 2023 Hugo, in the Best Related Work category!

I have been nominated for a few things in my life. I’ve even won a few. But I have not...

Pat Robertson walks past thousands of souls, smugly and full of pride, and cuts to the front of the line at the velvet rope in outside the entrance to Heaven.

The bouncer looks up from their clipboard, observing Robertson with thousands of eyes in a swirling cascade of light.

"Pat Robertson," they say. "We've been expecting you."

Pat Robertson silently congratulates himself. He swells with...

I agree with you.  He earned that.

How can Christians like him preach about love and be so cruel at the same time. “Love thy neighbour, but the guy next to the neighbour you can hate”

This morning, while I walked through my garden, I saw a bee on one of the flowers I planted. We have these trees in the back that have lots of flowers on them, and they're covered in bees all day long. I've been seeing hummingbirds there, too. But I never seem to see bees in the flower garden I planted specifically for them to enjoy....

For as long as I can remember, I and my fellow tabletop gamers have argued that it is not possible to have too many dice. It is known. This is The Way. It is only logical. Yabba dabba doo. And so on.

What I think we may have meant is, it is not possible to acquire more dice than any one of us would be...

I collect green coloured dice and when i see another shade of green that i like i end up buying them. Satine has some great sets out with dice themed
fredhincanada:
Collecting 6-sided dice seems like something a "square" would do.  Haha!  Get it?

Remember how much fun it was to harmlessly TP your friends’ houses? How silly and goofy it was to ding-dong ditch someone? Just to do silly, childish, ultimately harmless expressions of being a kid who’s fooling around? Or how about playing hide and seek? Remember how fun that was?

Thanks to the Republican fascists who have gerrymandered and suppressed their way into minority rule...

It is quite scary reading and listening to see what is going on in the states right now and seeing it leak into Canada too.Haida and Seek was my favourite outdoor game ever. I would be afraid to go outdoors now in some places.

I saw this in r/tumblr:

There’s a new girl in my kindergarten class who’s autistic and it’s like she’s barely / not really verbal but like idk she opened up to me a little, I don’t tell people I’m on the spectrum at work because they already treat me horribly because I’m the only poc there but like she’s a little Latina girl who I...

The best part is, the more people we show another way, the more will know it's an option and they will start to be that way to. Kindness encourages kindness! Thanks for sharing.

About ten years ago, I did a YouTube thing for a friend of mine. I showed up at a space in Hollywood, and did some silly gaming stuff with them to help get their channel off the ground. They’d done the same for me with Tabletop, and I was happy to return the favor. As I’ve said many times, nobody gets their foot in the...

Totally agree. Children should have a normal childhood. I’m lucky that my childhood was great. And unfortunately kids who are in the fame business usually do turn up a bit messed up and it is a shame really. I’m an uncle of 4 awesome kids. Two of my oldest are teens & the oldest is applying to be a lifeguard. So that’s great and they all have normal childhoods. So I do agree, it’s better to grow up away from the toxic environment that is fame. Especially from hearing the stories from most child actors, etc. Sounds like they’re forced into fame by their folks and that’s not cool. So I do agree, let them be kids, let them grow up. Good blog Wil! 👍🏻

Thank you for having the courage to be so forthright. As someone who often struggles with being bold enough to call people out on their bullshit even when sorely tempted, I really enjoyed reading what you said to that mother, and I certainly hope you gave her pause! Not feeling heard or like your needs matter is devastating for anyone, but especially for a child, who is learning how they relate and fit in to the world. Being a parent is a huge responsibility to give this new person their start on their path in life, and I wish every parent understood that often the best thing a parent can do for a child, I think, is to always listen, (especially to body language!) and to see them and accept them for who they are, so thank you for sharing!

Speaking as someone who lives with mental illness, who struggled and suffered for decades with undiagnosed and unacknowledged CPTSD, with a side of Depression and Generalized Anxiety, I know how difficult and scary a mental health crisis can be. I also know how vicious and ruthless and cruel the political world is.

So I am incredibly grateful to Senator John Fetterman for getting mental...

For most of last year, I worked on and promoted my New York Times bestselling (I’m gonna keep leaning into that until it gets super obnoxious, and then keep going to a little bit) memoir, Still Just A Geek. A huge part of my story is my survival of child abuse and exploitation, living with CPTSD and the depression and anxiety that...

This is a thing that comes up about once a year online. Someone wonders why Picard put Wesley, who was a teenager, at the helm of the Enterprise.

Surely, the argument goes, there are more qualified, experienced, adults on board who deserve the spot.

This most recently came across my Event Horizon, thusly:

“… The better question is how did this completely unqualified child get...
