I just got back from seeing the Shins play the Blackbird. Fucking awesome!! I hauled ass over there after work, and when I arrived, the opening band was still playing... The All Girl Summer Fun Band... kind of blah if you ask me. I didn't really care about missing them. The Shins came on shortly afterward and damn did they kick ass. They sounded every bit as good as the records do. The night was really hot and the venue was real small, so everyone was stuffed in like cattle, and crammed up against everybody else. I saw Janet Weiss from Sleater Kinney there, cause she lives here in town, and I passed her at one point as the Shins were getting ready to go on. She and her friend were headed towards the stage and looking for a clear place to stand. Janet said as she passed me- "we should just sit on the gear". At the time, it just sounded really funny and I couldn't stop laughing. It was definately the quote of the night... On the way home, my friend that I went to the show with was engaged in this conversation with me about how she has a natural knack for knowing how to push people's buttons. She claimed she knows almost everybody's sensitive side, and how to upset them. So, naturally I asked her what she thought my buttons consisted of... I would think that would be a typical question to ask after she just boasted about how she seems to know. She wouldn't tell me. She said she couldn't get into it. What the fuck? Girls are weird... just plain weird... I just don't understand how she can claim to have me so figured out and then not fess up to whatever she was getting at... Girls are weird... Yup, I think I mentioned that... Maybe her pushing my buttons meant not telling me exactly how she claims to know what upsets me... HMMMMMMMMMM...
