Well gang, first off many sloppy thanks to all of the birthdays wishes I received! Similarly to holidays, birthdays in my past have been awkward events that I'd rather work on than be stuck celebrating because I'm supposed to. Only in recent years have I had such a close-knit group of people around that I'm willing to buy into their hype of my worth being expressed in adoration and party noise makers. Being able to throw money into backing that idea has certainly up'ed the enjoyment in the past but, this year's unforeseen unemployment threw a wrench in the drunken merry making. The happy exception will be tomorrow's SGCT B-Day Sushi Bash for BigBuddha and myself. At last count there'll be something like 15+ people...any other takers!? It's still not too late!
As mentioned in a few journals and a particular Friend's Thread, ElmCityDrunk and I drove down to Casa de Bitchylibra to catch her father's band, The Watchdogs. The ever-awesome RxQueen was also in attendance and equally armed with her Canon. Any trip featuring 2+ hours of car-bopping sing-alongs, drunken omlettes, tight-as-hell blues and photographic mexican standoffs are all features of a trip well worth making again!
In news of the past couple of days, I've discovered a curiosity and an accepted joy... First, through the occaisional foray into the geekier corners of blogging, I stumbled onto BlueTights.Net. It's the cumulative on-set blog from Bryan Singer and the rest of the crew on Superman Returns. Similarly to pre-release feelings towards Batman Begins, a new Superman movie could be a number of things, most likely either good or bad.
The feature on this sight that has me happily leaning towards the good direction is most of the creative team are those responsible for the previous two X-Men movies, which I cared for. The second is Singer has produced at present 17 3-7 minute video journals available here. It shows him obviously in his element, enjoying the opportunity before him and all of the usual behind-the-scenes sequences that well lend such segments to DVD features. The most curious is Singer's being called by normally round and gregarious Peter Jackson. When he arrives, we see that Jackson seems near hospitalization w/ exhaustion while filming his production of King Kong and has enlisted Singer to co-direct as Peter Jackson loses consciousness.
The second stumbled upon joy of late has been rebuilding segments of my comic collection... In recent years I've been trying to go back and purchase collected graphic novels of series that I'd lost during moves, loaned out to friends (as friends are apt to do), etc. While not downloading ancient music videos, I've been absorbing the entire Preacher & Hellblazer series, a replacement copy of Watchmen, Gaiman's 1602, most of the Star Wars graphic novel output and the other odd unmentionable guilty pleasures.
Of late, AlienPrincess' computer has stopped successfully playing Star Wars Galaxies and this has left me becoming more and more familiar with iBook and it's wireless connection. Some of this has been posting around here in the past week. Most of this has been installing a comic book reader on the laptop, streaming content through the network, turning the 90 degrees clockwise and being able to read the book pages one at a time along the length of the LCD computer monitor.
Well after this long entry, today's plans are travelling w/ chiquitabonita and PornStarGuy to go pick up DarkRabbit from JFK... He officially got out on my birthday and will indeed be able to make tomorrow night's SGCT dinner. Picture taking and tales of traffic woe will be in abundance, no doubt!

aww thanks. Let me know when you are all getting together. Tell Robin I say hi. She's one of my favorite people of all time and I may be stopping in to see her at the starbuck.
