Profoundly hazy day, friends... Life for my ferrets has immeasurably improved with the installation of A/C in our flat...one window unit being perma-loaned from AlienPrincess' sister, the second I wisely purchased last summer. If I am to be unemployeed, damnit, atleast it should be in comfort!
Things have been going relatively well in finding employment... Early on during my leave, I was sure to get my resume in order. In the past week I've retooled it to allow for food service positions as well as wait & kitchen staff gigs. I've yet to check in w/ a friend who's at the pulse of New Haven culinary scene. Gotta save something for next week, too.
I just got off the phone w/ the lovely arachronism, who on reflection, I've talked to a number of times in the past but only by stealing away the phone from King_Of_Skulls. Damn, how long ago was that!? Anyway, we've gears in motion to meet-up in Boston next Sunday afternoon. A 2+ hour drive for me but time well worth spent! chiquitabonita and PornStarGuy are coming along for the ride which does leave room for one, maybe two more people if there's any takers.
It being my B-day soon, I had to go renew my driver's license and also clear up a speeding ticket which had popped it's ugly head up. I had to drop down to the Milford courthouse to chat up a couple of clerks inside to re-open the ticket case...normally not a problem. It did however turn into one when I showed up in the middle of the funeral for the town's former mayor. This prosession and its hundreds of cars, police cruisers, fire trucks, ambulances required a parking ban for literally every space in this mile radius. The five block was taken twice - once to get there and be turned away due to my camera phone, the second when I'd forgotten a random paper required. Problems were smoothed, a date was set for rinky-dink traffic court on the 27th and spent the afternoon looking at my new license photo (which for once turned out well - "Look ma! No afro!")
Today kicks off New Haven's Arts and Ideas Festival...had somebody been coming to town this weekend, this is fun that would've been had. ElmCityDrunk is working at Art Beat a four block hike from my couch fort and is responsible for an outdoor screening of Little Shop of Horrors ("You'll be a dentist!") after dark. I'm unsure what lunchtime concerts will be held next week but happily all are on my way to the library.
