Random quiet evening at home for me tonight... Quiet in the sense of having no outside plans, not in the sense of up to no good. Today's secret word turns out to be cooking. I was inspired to follow a recipe for hot chocolate mix. I've yet to try it but, I'm sure that's due to change before this update is done. biggrin

I've also used the excuse of no work on Saturdays for rolling up my sleeves and busting out cooking moves on the stovetop. My last success was poaching whitefish fillets in evaporated milk w/ Old Bay, paprika and catenne pepper. Tonight I had another of my regular cravings for chicken soup from scratch. The usual variant I make calls for ingredients more at home in chili: corn, beans, diced tomatoes, jalepenos, etc. It served over two handfulls of crushed tortilla chips and a beer in hand. The other factor of hauling out cooking big guns on Saturday is a particular girlfiend gets home at midnight ready to devour the first thing in sight (usually our kitchen table). tongue I've found that having a plate of grub readily at hand saves her time in post-work decompression as well as saving me a table leg or two. wink

Nest week is the SGNY Open Call and SGCT will be showing up en masse. I think the unofficial count is myself, ElmCityDrunk, GrumpyBear, Laerkai, CinderOla and HonkeyKong who'd posted the tip off in the first place. Are there more takers? Well, hopefully so! biggrin

fredfarnance:
I made a big fancy cocktail party menu on Satruday which was fun. Beef tenderloin sandwiches on baguettes with 3 different flavored butters, blue cheese, roasted garlic, and horseradish. Plus a really amazing dish with smoked salmon, served on shallot toasts with a sour cream, dill and dijon sauce.

I love well cooked fish, it's such a delight to have it served in such a way that the flavor of the fish comes through.

The whitefish sounds good. I'll have the same, but with extra Old Bay, please. oink
