So, the Xmas present that AlienPrincess and I bought for each other finally arrived today. And it looks like this:
It is a pre-modded Xbox from a company called FriendTech. They refurbish Xboxes with Media Key Mod Chips, larger hard drives (we're packing a 120 gig) and freeware & linux operating system to get better uses out of the console. An example of one is "backing up" copies of game you already own onto the hard drive. Loading from there speeds loadtimes like few things ever. Whatever else were to be "backed up" is between me and the Microsoft legal team. One of the not-so long distance hopes is to get it behind a network, have it play nicely with a digital music/movies server and have it function as...something cool. For now, I'm just ticked to play the odd four titles which I've rented.
