First Day At Work And My Rollercoaster Weekend
I started my new job today. According to holierthancow it was one of the bad days. If that's what the bad days are like then I'm going to like it there because I loved it. The only problems were that occasionally I felt like I wasn't being useful enough because I didn't know what I was doing well enough to jump in without direction and the fact that my steel toe shoes were terribly uncomfortable and were killing my feet by the end of the day. Otherwise it was great. We worked hard for 8.5 straight hours loading pallets and loading pallets into the trailer container. I was sweating bullets and drank four 32oz bottles of Gatorade but I felt great and by the time I got home I had a lot more energy and a better sense of inner well being than I ever did coming from a shift at Papa Johns. I need physical work in my life. Most of the jobs I found deeply satisfying were jobs that pushed me physically while generally not having to deal with other people.
Anyway, a quick rundown of my crazy weekend before I head off to bed.
Friday morning I went into work for my final day of employment at Papa Johns. It wasn't too bad, though just bad enough to make me quite grateful that I'm not going to be working there anymore. No more dealing with an unending stream of idiots and assholes. Rosie also dropped by, back in town to take her GED. She's ended up staying at our place the whole weekend.
Friday night Gene was doing security at the Motion in Underground and he invited us all out. So wyspurr, Brian, Rosie, and I all joined Gene, Chris, and Viscious there. Unfortunately Chris, Brian, Rosie and I all ended up bored off our asses so we got wyspurr to get us out of there, except Rosie who stuck around to swoon on Gene. It was cute seeing her all schoolgirlish.
Anyway, we knew that the Krome Studios event was going on at Spring4th and we thought we'd check it out. That was pretty much a mistake. The music wasn't bad but none of us except wyspurr was in the mood for dancing. So we left out of there and wyspurr took Brian and me back to the apartment before returning to Motion with Chris.
Brian and I salvaged the evening by buying a case of Killians and watching The Devil's Rejects with Brendastarr85. Sometimes drinking beer and watching a movie with your friends is the best thing for a Friday night.
Saturday afternoon, holierthancow came over and he joined Brian and I at Elmyr for lunch. The three of us got good and sloshed for the afternoon. It was great and it helped solidify Brian's decision to move in with holierthancow. I think Brian will make a much better run of things in Atlanta this time since he won't have to deal with the clusterfuck that was living with Ocean and Stitch in their overpriced slum house.
Saturday night, wyspurr dropped Brendastarr85 and I off at Sinn's birthday party. I didn't really know anyone there except for Sinn, Dylan, the members of Dylan's band Waited, and Druj and Dave when they showed up, but everyone was really cool and we had a great time. wyspurr and Brian eventually joined us too and they had a good time as well.
Unfortunately, I got dragged away from that so the four of us could go to another party we were invited to that wasn't really a party so much as a bunch of people rolling in the dark and looking at pretty lights. There were a couple of positive sides to it like the fact that the guy DJing was one of the people that worked at Papa Johns who I was glad to see and I got paid some money owed to me. It wasn't really bad there, but it's really boring to be around rolling people when you're not rolling. So, we left, but not until after Brendastarr85 just completely disappeared into the upstairs of the house right as we were getting ready to leave. Lorrie had dragged her off and Brendastarr85 let her even though she knew we were all getting ready to go and didn't tell anyone. I was pretty irate about that.
Sunday I just wanted to relax since I knew I'd be working hard today. Unfortunately things weren't very relaxing at all in the Arcane household. Trixie, after being out on the town both Friday and Saturday night decided that she needed a break and told Gene he had to take care of Haven for two or three days, knowing that he is currently homeless and couchsurfing with us, knowing that our household is already overcrowded (especially with two out of town guests). Trixie did make an appearance today for a few minutes, Shane in tow of course, and didn't even bother to come in to see her child, I'm told. Anyway, I didn't get to relax much on Sunday.
I'm so glad that Rosie has left and Brian is staying over at holierthancow's now. It's not that I don't love their company, but the household was just too damned cramped. Now if only Trixie would come get Haven life could get back to a semblance of normality.
