it looks like i'm probably not going to make it to the sg show on saturday. i have a date with really cool girl who i have been seeing for a couple of weeks now. it's probably the only thing that would keep me from going to the show.

so, ladies, i apologize. thank you for taking the time coming to tampa for me. i'm...

Maybe she'd like to go to. Some of us girls don't mind looking at hot women. I still consider myself straight/bi curious, but don't entertain the idea of actually having sex with a girl. I like my fantasies in my head -they're less disappointing that way.

your drawings are awesome!

so I suck at watercolors. I hate not being immediately good at something. especially when it seems like I should be able to do it at least reasonably well. It looks like an 8th grader tried to paint this crap, and I'm kinda pissed off.

also, I am not going to show you what I'm talking about, you will have to take my word for...

the few times i played with watercolor, it helped that i used not enough water and a heavier mush(?) before i ever tried to "get loose" with it.. but thats just me, i'm a .5mm pencil guy.

i have seen some AMAZING friggin build up on watercolor too.

Did you mess with the watercolors? I think they're damn cool, and I don't know why people have trouble with them. I think they try and actually paint within the spaces you know like you would solid colors. Just sloshing the stuff around comes out great, no boundaries.

Aaaw i stole your drawing of Voltaire with her arms crossed! I'm gonna print it and pin it up.

your art is fucking super, HIGHLY impressed; what do you do for a living??

Alright that has to be the coolest garbage can I have ever seen! It's time for happy trash (doot doot doo doo doot). The new garbage campaign would be: "there is nothing funny about littering" God, I crack myself up.

I just cannot get over your artwork! Seriously. I always have to go back and look at everything you've posted. You have so much talent. I DREAM of having talent like that. Sincerely.

HOLY SHIT!

I just flew around in the Cessna for a couple of hours. I actually got to pilot it for about 10 minutes. I did a figure 8. I kept expecting the real pilot to grab the yoke from me, screaming. But somehow, I was able to keep us in the air. I kept thinking about the chorus to "young pilgrims" by the shins,...

Fucking great song to think about... but while flying, too awesome! Dude, I wanna learn how to fly small planes. That's definitely a goal of mine.

I hadn't seen that MM interview. Funny, I love the part about the video concept... "uh, we put it on film. You can watch it. I'm sure you'll get it." or something like that. and also the missionary... without a religious agenda.

The first time I ever saw the Shins they opened up for the MM at a fairly small club. They're headlining their next show here in a place that's easily 10x larger! Good for them.

edited because I wrote: missionary with a religious agenda.

I am going to fly a cessna in about an hour. If you don't see me again, I am probably dead.

Well, I am not really doing much of the flying, but I have been promised that I will get to at least turn it or something.
prescience:
Just passing through. Awesome artwork, man! Good luck with the flying wink

My sister got robbed in Toronto. She was on vacation with her friend. It was kind of her own fault for being stupid. They met these guys and were hanging out with them for a few days, and had them back at their hotel. Whileshe was in the bathroom they took off with all of their money, credit cards and a digital camera. She was...

Here comes the flood.
Saw your pix at the Flux stop. Cool. I thought the one she had looked like her and when I went rooting through your other pics I saw another that I'm sure was. Excellent stuff.
Too bad about your sister's Toronto trip....the place is definitely getting crazy.
libby:

I did a comic book style drawing of Flux this morning, and I'm gonna try and color it in painter. It was too wide to put in my journal, so it's in my pics section if you want to see it.

UPDATE

OK, I colored it, at least as much as I'm going to for now. What I learned is that I can color alright...

Quality work. I like most of your stuff actually, especially the coloured flux-with-sword. Keep it up...

i dig it! reminds me of my own paintings. I haven't done anything that good digitally yet though.

how crazy is painter? I trip on how you can turn a photo into a layer and just start sliding the colors around, Or do your blending on a top layer without touching the bottom layers. The water colors are a trip too. I've been playing with it a fair bit, but every time i start something i think OK I wanna do something digital looking, but then I end up copying my oil style, but it just looks like... a bad oil painting.

I have all day off tomorrow. I'll try and do something worth posting.

I know what you mean about cheating, but I've always thought digital art was just that. I have a mental division between digital and traditional art. It's too easy with digital, and it's basically a tool so I've never cared how the images are created, just how they end up. With traditional art, i'd be disappointed to find out someone used a projector or something unless it's political art or a statement of some kind that doesn't require technical skill.

Let me know if you find any cool tricks in Painter. So far I've mainly been using the smeary bristle spray, without any blending tools. I kinda like that one.
sugarpill:
That's. Fucking. Cool!

This is today's journal entry. It is not the fastest journal entry, but it'll keep up. It is not the toughest entry, but it can stand up for itself. It's not the smartest entry, nor the best looking. It can't rotate it's own tires or fillet a sturgeon. It has never seen Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo, and probably won't. This journal entry has never been...
