My mother's surgery for the cancer is over with, and it apparently went off without a hitch. She's apparently going to have 4 to 5 months of chemotherapy, which sounds like a lot, but since I've never really been through anything like this before I really don't know.

Just found out my mother has breast cancer. This is completely out of the blue, she has surgery early next week and I'm stuck hundreds of miles away. Apparently they caught it early though, so my biggest worry is that she has to go through chemotherapy, which I know very little about. How long does that usually last if they succeed in removing the tumor...

I really wish I was in the UK. This year's election has to be one of the most exciting I've seen, especially since I've been a long time fan of the Lib Dems. I'll be sending good thoughts in Clegg's direction today and tomorrow!

I watched the Grammy Awards for the first time in ages. I'm a bit miffed that they didn't show the Best Alternative Album award, which was given to Phoenix, (Woo!) and otherwise I guess it was about what you'd expect from the Grammy Awards. "Use Somebody" won way too many awards. I seriously don't like that song, but maybe it'll be one of those things...
