I'm super excited about this decision to move to Seattle. The cold weather is going to take me forever to get used to, and likely I won't. However, it'll be very nice to always have a legitimate reason to keep my heater on twenty-four-seven. When you live in Texas and use your heater more then your air conditioner, people begin to wonder.
Since I won't go until I have my Associates degree in some kind of business, I've been looking at the requirements. For some insane reason, an Associate of Applied Science in Business Management, the degree I want, requires absolutely none of the classes I've taken in the last three semesters. However, the Business Administration degrees, which are Associate of Science (not applied science, as if I knew the fucking different), require a lot of the classes I have already taken. So I guess I'll have to make a sacrifice and get whichever of the degrees I have the most credits for, whether or not it's the exact one I want (there are half a dozen Bus. Admin. degrees and only one Bus. Management). Naturally, of fucking course, the Admin degrees required advanced math. I still haven't got out of the damn remedial math classes yet. That's going to be a huge stumbling block for me.
OK, so here's the car I'm going to build, or what I have decided so far....
1989 Chevy Camaro IROC-Z with an L98 5.7L 350ci V8
I'm going to have the engine rebuilt and bored out .030 over (to 355ci) with forged internals (crank, pistons, et cetera). I'm going to keep the compression ratio fairly low, no more then 9.5:1 (so I can use mid-grade fuel and maybe a small turbocharger down the line). The camshaft is going to be a moderate Comp Cam grind - as much as I can get away with and still have my air conditioner work while sitting in traffic. I haven't decided on the heads. I love AFR heads, but it's two grand for a pair. I really like Fast Burn heads (they're insanely good, second only to AFRs) but cost upwards of thirteen hundred bucks. Headers are going to be Edelbrock street-legal shorties. I'm going to go with dual Flowmaster exhaust. Down the line I'll bolt on a full Lingenfelter induction/fuel injection upgrade (about fifteen hundred total).
The transmission is going to be a TH700R4 built, most likely, by TCI with a stock stall converter and a deep trans oil pan (extends life, keeps it cooler, et cetera). Maybe I'll go with a 2000-2500 stall, since it'd be cheaper to put one in with the new tranny, then later on down the line (as the tranny would already be out of the car). The tranny plus oil pan will run just about two grand. But it's an awesome transmission, it's race prepped for up to 450hp (which means it'll take more like 500hp) and has an auto/manual valvebody. This means that it can be driven like any other automatic transmission, until you want to race and then you can shift the gear as you please - just like a manual trans (only you don't have to use a clutch, so it's even quicker).
The car is going to be a T-top, and that means a roll cage, but that'll be a while down the line too.
I'm already saving up for this car. I won't go to Seattle without it, and actually fully intend to sell my truck when I finish school and use the money to buy and build this car. Then I put a tow hitch on it and hook a U-Haul to it and drive my ass up to Seattle.
In Seattle I'm going to try and land a gig managing an apartment complex. Free rent, good benefits, and good money. What more could a single guy ask for?

no turbo because my Z is a '77 and they flex too much, even with the frame upgrades available (there's a kit to stiffen the frame that people use for turning Z's into convertibles). The 280's are just not very good for engine upgrades.
I want to do a V8 conversion on a '70-'71 240Z because they have the stiffer frame and are slightly easier to smog. I would be going for a conventional 350 V8 because it's easy to work on, and I like to as much as possible myself. Besides, I have always wanted to hear the exhaust notes of a Chevy V8 coming out of my car. This is the best of both worlds. Not sure about specs exactly, I need to do a bit more research before I start looking for a car to buy, but I'll get lots of power out of a crate V8 in that car - it's a little bit like taking the engine from a motorcycle and sticking it on a go-ped.
