The Boston Red Sox won the motherfucking World Series. I know it probably doesn't mean a damn thing to you but it does to me, even if you think I'm an idiot.

See, and I already told you. I hate competitive sports but I fucking love baseball. wink

My day tomorrow looks like it will involve hanging out on set, by a pool, with a bunch...

I went to a Halloween party last night and ran into a friend who was dressed up as a carrot. The story goes that years ago when she was still a goth she wanted to be a vampire for Halloween. But seeing as how being a vampire isn't much more than daywear as a goth, she decided instead to craft her own carrot costume. And,...

Ok - The Great Divorce is not hackin' it. I'm almost done but I'm disappointed. A friend of mine in LA is the one who turned me on to Lewis. I was visiting him and he told me that a lot of what I was saying in a conversation is similar to Lewis' words in A Greif Observed. I then bought that book - love d it and bought Miracles and TGD. And, of course, I loved the Narnia Chronicles as a kid and again at 24.

UGH.

Two nights ago, just as the rain hit Los Angeles with all it had, my car was broken into and the stereo stolen. Smashed the rear quarter window. Unlocked the door, let themselves into the back seat. Wrenched back (and possibly broke) the passenger seat to get into the front. Then, thanks to German automotive ingenuity, the perpetrator spent considerable time and effort destroying...

Saturday is finally here! Fuck yeah! I'm gonna go right out and... uh... a nap sounds nice. A nap sounds very, very nice. biggrin

Today will probably be spent costume shopping for Halloween. Halloween is somewhat of a strange day for me because my family didn't celebrate it at all. See, my folks are pretty religious (Baptist), and while they're good people, they didn't want their...

hey I was looking at your companies website and saw all of the positions you were looking for and came to this conclusion....you need to look for people in pipeline and tool development, looking for people that have experience in strictly Maya tools is useless, unless you need warm bodies. The only thing that seperates you from other studios are the tools you have in house, other than that you only have employee's and nothing of real worth...Maya fur sucks, Maya render sucks, default Maya deformation tools suck, color space is a major issue, etc....to get a show with 100's of shots you have to show that you have a pipeline and infastructure that can support it....email me and we can talk about it......eric

I've been thinking more about this money thing and have come to the conclusion that I need to maintain perspective. I'm not digging ditches or cleaning sewers or telemarketing for a living. I still have all my limbs in tact, don't have a glass eye, no false teeth, no disfiguring burns on my face. My life, on the whole, is still pretty damn good compared...

once, i saw mrs. garrett from the facts of life at cafe verona!
lubricatedgoat:
I've staff there for the last several years. Currently I am on Open Season initially as a senior character modeler then I'm moving into to backend of the pipline as a Model/texture/lookdev TD supporting everything that has to do with a model from modeling to rendering.

Lubricated Goat was on AmRep with Boss Hog. Basically an american release from their Black Eye label release. They are on the Dope Guns video together.

Do you produce or are you an artist????

Had yet another fantastic weekend, which now makes several in a row. Saturday began with haircuts for both me and Chavez, then a party in the evening for my friend Siru.

Sunday involved attempting to surf with a hangover, which I discovered isn't a whole lot of fun because I got seasick. But, I still hung out at the beach, which is always enjoyable. Lunch...

your fig recipe sounds like my perfect snack.

the money thing is a complicated one. i agree that work is work and not your life, but i think of certain other jobs and realize i could never stomach them, no matter how much i was being paid. i refuse to wear pantyhose, schmooze, or sell anything as part of my job description.

that said, my job is veering more and more towards finance and it's not as bad as i thought. but i can show up in sneakers and $2 men's pants from the thrift store, as i did today. wink

I am absolutely not a fan of any kind of organized sporting event with the exception of professional baseball. Usually, I hate the grandstanding, the one-upsmanship, the showboating, loathed jocks as a rule, and detested the Icky Shuffle. I've despised football my entire life, have become extremely sick of professional basketball (see Kobe Bryant), have never lived anywhere far enough north to appreciate hockey, hated...

i think that vutek wrote in my journal a few times before i left the site. now i'm sad. its nice to know that i'm not the only one with irrational phobias. my doctor prescribed me some zanax, but i'm afraid to take it. maybe it's just another phobia. i figure that if i start taking it for my phobia, i'll never be able to get on the freeway unless i've taken my pill. i'd rather find another way to get past this. does that sound dumb?

Gah! Damn NBC and and Medical Investigations!

In all seriousness, this is the reason I've been away from the things that matter to me most for the last three months. But check out the network, Fridays at 10PM. It was another late night at the office delivering the next episode. If the visual effects smack you upside the head with wonderment, you have me...

i do need to start exercising again...i was really good for a long time and even had a personal trainer. now, no trainer = no motivation. frown

basically i'm the admin/tech support for a couple of computer programs at *large cable channel owned by evil conglomerate*: one for production accounting and one that is used for scheduling nuts and bolts like editing, crews, etc. which is to say, i am a big nerd.

Good afternoon, kids! How the hell are ya? It's yet another ridiculously gorgeous day in Los Angeles, so let's not forget that we're lucky to have it.

I spent the morning hiking and running through fog-laden Runyon Canyon, dragging my less-than-inspired dog Chavez with me. I want to take him out when I go exercising but he inevitably gets tired out much more quickly than...

I have been absolutely obsessed this past week with Iron & Wine's album, The Creek Drank the Cradle. Sam Beam really is something of a musical genius, and I don't say that flippantly. I feel like I float through his lyrical wonderland as his guitars strum their hypnotic melodies in quiet introspection. And this happens each time the CD resets and plays once again,...

Cyn and I took that Iron and Wine record up to Northern California and spun it over and over. It's beautiful. You might like "Ghosts of the Great Highway" by Sun Kil Moon too. Actually, you'd definitely like it!

I know! That little problem that prevented me from coming over, by the way, ended up costing me almost 800 dollars. My entire cooling system was shot to hell and leaking. It totally sucked, but turns out we really, really shouldn't have been driving it.
