Depends on the time of year and how strong the winds are.In October, we get high winds and waves can range from 3 to 6 feet. They are usually nice and fluffy, with an even spread of about 8-10 seconds each. I have a 7'6 board. I loves her so much. Lake Erie will freeze in January and I will have to wait until spring to ride again, unless I get down southsmile
ktown77:

i cant even imagine what its like riding in near-freezing water! There is about on average 7-10 perfect windy days during our summer season, fall it is a bit chilly but you dress for it, nice wetty is all.

what's it like riding fresh water compared to being in the ocean? i'm guessing you need a slightly bigger board to compensate for the difference in buoyancy. Fresh water is un-real, like nothing you have ever surfed. You really cherish your days on the waves, No salt on your suit, no sharks, smaller waves and no tunnels but decent. I ride a 7 foot 6, not for buoyancy but because the waves are smaller and its much nicer to be able to catch everything!

you should join the waveriders group! i think you might be the lone fresh water representative. Thanks for the invite mate, I just didsmile Proud to represent Canada as a fresh water wave ridersmile

When the Soviet Union launched the first satellite into space, Americans were awestruck. Few would have guessed that now, just 50 years later, backpack-toting 16-year-olds would be taking their own space shots in high school...
