Tonight I'm going to see RUSH at The Woodlands in Houston. Funny thing, I bought my first RUSH album in 1976, (2112 on 8 track) but didn't actually see them in concert until 31 years later, in 2007. I had always been kind of a RUSH fan, but I didn't live and die for them. However, I met a girl that was half my age who did, so as fate would have it RUSH was playing in Houston on her birthday. Owning my own little business that spends a buck or two on advertising with the local radio stations, I dropped a dime and got backstage passes! Needless to say, it was probably the best birthday present she ever received, and I have the pictures to prove it....see my pic page! Well, RUSH played for 3-1/2 hours and it was a pretty amazing concert experience! Due to some crazy quirk in their tour schedule, RUSH came back to Houston 8 months later in 2008, so naturally we went to see them again! That was 25 months ago, and the long wait is over. Tonight we're going again, but a lot has changed. We went through some Hellish crazy times over the last three years, but eventually found our good place. She's not my "lover" or even my EX. As things have evolved, she's become like the little sister I never had. She's married now and has her own little girl. The guy she married is first rate, and he's become one of my best friends! We all live together and I'd have to say we have a pretty solid family unit. I could have never envisioned that three years ago. Back then, I was a completely different person. Back then, all I cared about was separating as many young girls from their panties as possible, and I had my fair share of success, but not with her. No, she saw right through my bullshit and yet, she still cared about me. Got to say, I never saw that coming! Funny how what at one point you might consider an epic fail, actually turns out to be an epic success!!
