I've been reading this thread.
(Minus the Uptight stuff, of course. I don't willingly subject myself to toxic waste.)

I dunno... I know it's a horrible thing to say to any sensible American, but I'm wondering if Hillary is the way to go here.

Question is, could she beat McCain?
If not, then Obama, no question.

But if she could... Then maybe she should be given the poisoned chalice that whoever follows GWB will be lumped with. That's the thing that worries me; that whoever follows GWB is already set up to fail.

And that's the problem. Would you rather have Hillary fail; or Obama? Because it's going to take an awful lot of luck for the next president to overcome the mountain of shit GWB is leaving behind.

Kindle has the right of it, I think. The Presidency chews people up even when things aren't as shitty as they are now. To be th enext president will truly be a sacrifice, and a tremendous burden. If that is the case, then I want someone in there who, above all, I can trust to do the right thing. And there's only one guy in the race whom I can say that about.

Of course, I also think he is genuinely more electable than she is, these latest mini-controversies notwithstanding. But that's a more involved topic.

Thanks for the nice comment in my blog btw. I always know you appreciate those types of threads. I just wish we could get more people involved. Oh well, I guess you can only try. We're not going to be able to force people to be interested in stuff they have no interest in. Hopefully they're reading them at least. I wish there was like a counter that kept track of how many people viewed the thread.
