I was honorably discharged from the Army @ 0949 on November 6, 2008 after much wrestling and less than two months after telling my Battalion XO I'd go to jail before going back to Iraq.

Well, one positive thing is that Canadian conservatives are generally more liberal than American conservatives, and we don't bring religion into politics. Depending on when you're out of the military, there might not be a conservative government anymore! And even with conservatives in power, I still think it will be a good country to live in

I've cut a deal with the Army and I'll be "home by Thanksgiving."
Apparently our Division Commander had a discussion with my Battalion Commander and I was offered a quickie honorable discharge.
These things happen, though very rarely.
I almost cried like a little girl who's just discovered she's becoming a woman.
So yeah, my spirits are officially lifted.
