Avast, me hearties..................

What do you know? It's Sept. and that means it's time again for International Talk Like a Pirate Day. It's on a Saturday (this Saturday), so you won't be able to impress with your co-workers with your extensive knowledge of pirate jokes (it's drivin' me nuts).

On the flip side, they won't have to see you wearing your knickers and fake eye-patch....

My stepfather passed away three years ago today. We all nicknamed him the "Old Farte".
He reveled in it and collected all kinds of fart memorabilia over the years.

So in his memory, here is an "Ode to an Old Farte" -

A fart is a pleasant thing,
It gives the belly ease,
It warms the bed in winter,
And suffocates the fleas.

A fart...

North Carolina is one of many places i'd consider moving to. It would be in a more rural area than where my daughter lives. I don't drive, so i'd need to be near some kind of public transportation, (buses most likely).

I'll pm you with more thoughts about coming up with a moving plan. I'd like your response to what i'm thinking.
cassy:
i hope you 2 had a nice holiday weekend biggrin i miss ya.

A Challenge for the Future:

Ive learned a thing or two from our roller coaster economy over the past two years. The most valuable lesson of all: It's time to start focusing on the life lessons we've learned along the way and throw off this mantle of materiality that has smothered us for so long.

I hear my friends talk about diminishing expectations ahead -...

the one he talks to and tells he loves everyday.
that's what it is all about...and at the end of the day the rest is just STUFF.
i have so much STUFF in storage just sitting there, that i haven't even thought about in a year.
i live a relatively simple existence, now if i can just stop the retail therapy, lol biggrin

Things to Ponder Over:

* I wish Google Maps had an "Avoid Ghetto" routing option.

* More often than not, when someone is telling me a story all I can
think about is that I can't wait for them to finish so that I can tell
my own story that's not only better, but also more directly involves
me.

* Nothing sucks more than that...

You are endlessly awesome and hilarious!! I know it's been a while since I've been around, it happens. I wish I saw your blog when you put it out because it's funny as hell! But I'm glad I didn't read it until tonight because I really needed the laugh. Thank you for the sweet thoughts and kind words, and you are right.
wsoxfan:
Thanks for the good thoughts and wishes. Unfortunately, there were new developments that I just talked about in the blog I posted a few minutes ago. I'm still physically and emotionally drained after actually being able to get some decent quality of sleep.

I hope things are well with you.

Do Dogs go to Heaven?

This is literally a 'church signs' debate, being played out in a Southern US town, between
Our Lady of Martyrs Catholic Church, and Cumberland Presbyterian, a fundamentalist church.
From top to bottom shows you the response and counter-response over time.

The Catholics are displaying a much better sense of humor! You get the impression that the Presbyterians are actually taking...

Personalities to Avoid

Although we like to think that the people in our lives are well-adjusted, happy, healthy minded individuals, we sometimes realize that it just isn't so. Personally, I've had moments where I'll be skipping through my day, happy as can be, thinking life is grand and BAM, I'll be blindsided by someone who manages to knock the happy wind out of my sails....

CRUSTY SNICKLELIPS

DON'T LAUGH UNTIL YOU FIND OUT WHAT YOUR NEW NAME IS -

We all need a little stress-reliever. This only takes a minute. Please don't be a bore & ruin it.

Sometimes when you have a stressful day or week, you need some silliness to break up the day.
If we are honest, we have a lot more stressful days than not.

Yesterday I visited with some friends who are allowing their lives and relationship to fall apart. I wish I would have had a copy of this blog. I would have nailed it to the wall. Perhaps they would have heeded and believed you.

I hope you are having an excellent August. Best wishessmile

The Wooden Bowl

A frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and four-year - old grandson.
The old man's hands trembled, his eyesight was blurred, and his step faltered.
The family ate together at the table. But the elderly grandfather's shaky hands and failing sight made eating difficult. Peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor. When he grasped the glass, milk...

Oh, yes - it is all to easy to put your work before your children, and justify it to yourself as well. But you reap what you sow.

My Dad always says to me that when he gets old and infirm, I should make sure he has a nice care home to go to. He remembers back to when his father lived with my parents for over a decade, and how hard it was, and doesn't want us to go through the same thing.

I will, of course, be ignoring him completely.
