Okay, I'm pretty much out of here. Whenever the next billing period expires. Nice talking to you folks, good times, but I should move on. Or something. Personal thing, I guess. But I'd like to keep in touch. Etc.

Congrats on Interzone. I just got 204. Which story is yours?
velocity:
Nice to see you back. How's the writing going?

What a pleasant weekend. New setup for the site, many thousand words on the book. Blah blah blah.
cheapbastard:
Aha!! Thanks - that was driving me nuts trying to find them. I really don't understand the change to the frou-frou and making things way more complicated than they should be. If it ain't broke, you know?

So, I sort of have a request. IZ204 is at the printer. It should be arriving in the houses of the mighty(subscribers) and bold(distributors) in early May. I really appreciate all the folks here who have subscribed, or sworn to go out and buy it when the time comes. That's some cool shit.

I'd like to take it one step further. Farther? I'm going to...

I saw your profile pic and wanted to congratulate you. In my esteem (for what it's worth) you have the COOLEST profile image currently on SG.

I mean.....Hyperion? THAT is awesome. I've been geeking out ever since Cassini-Huygens sent back its first images two years ago. That image you've chosen is one of my favorites from the mission, so far. biggrin
velocity:
Does it smell like victory?

I'll have to keep an eye out for them.

...and, of course, hit you up for the mysterious secrets of the published, once I have time to apply them!
liantem:
Hm. What if I give up my (already nonexistent) social life but maintain the career? I figure my job's going to give me plenty of material for both comedy and tragedy, assuming I don't fail the bar and get fired (although that'd be comedy and tragedy in and of itself, it'd also be a prematurely short end to the tale).

Ah, well. We'll see how it works out. If nothing else I can live vicariously through the successes of my acquaintances. wink

The time of my domination is nearly upon us. Behold!

In unrelated news, some good friends of mine had dinner with William Gibson the other day. I am seething with jealousy.

Thanks, hon. Yeah, it sucks pretty hard. If the meds work, it'll be a fucking miracle.
waldo_____:
Well, the chrome and/or nickel-plate gets in the way enough that I had to have it pointed out to me... tongue wink

I guess it just feels like a synthesis of everything else he's done. (M. John Harrison gives me the same impression, sometimes.)

I'm writing a book. Sort of. At day I go to my job, and I fucking hate it, and by the end of the day I'm depressed out of my mind. So I come home, and I drink, and then I can't really write. And we can all see how well that's going to go.

maybe your book should incorporate your hate.
velocity:
Heh. You think you have issues with the church, you should read my book.

Issue #10 of Electric Velocipede is available for pre-order. Someone you know might be in it. If you know me, that is.

There's no way in Hell you'd ever be able to get me to a gamer con, unless you dragged my rotting corpse. And even then I might complain.
velocity:
Well, I've had the damn book finished for over a year now. It's time to get off my ass and get it sold.

Interzone just bought a third story from me. It's especially nice because this was another one set in the common setting I've been trying to develop. I'm writing a novel in this setting, so it's good that it has already demonstrated some commercial viability.
velocity:
Sweet. I'd be interested in reading it.
velocity:
Actually. I'm in Seattle for spring break, west coast. I suppose there is the coast of Lake Superior in Minnesota, but that's really more of a shore.

Wow. So, I haven't said anything in a while. What's happened in my life? Many things. The agent who has expressed interest went ahead and rejected the manuscript, but he did so with a three page, very detailed letter explaining what worked and what didn't, some suggested reading, and a very clear interest in any future material. My writing group made it clear that agents...

Hectic. There comes a point when your available time and your scheduled time intersect. That's where I am. My time is spent writing, or reading crits for my group or for the Dead Channel or just to keep up with the genre. And there's nothing much left. I really don't like my job.
bbkaro:
But you love being busy, right? Life's like that. Plus, it's New Comic Day. Yay.

I am *Busy*. Crazy busy. Insane. Things in my life:

Agent requests manuscript. This leads to many hours of reformatting and printing and copying and preparing and what have you. Stressful.

My big secret writing project has gone public. Please go read all the cool stuff at The Dead Channel

Or whatever.

I have for you a xmas present. Some friends and I got together and formed a sort of writing collective. Kind of. We're providing free content online, stories and stuff. We're going to be updating every week, so drop by on wednesdays to see what's new. Here's the link.

Dead Channel

Anyway. A festive Yule, all.
