@iggy has inspired another jolt for me to attempt to be better about blogging. As long as you, my dear, tell me when you are hurting.
Today is first day back from the NC Outer Banks and without the parents-in-laws, and their dog too. Now, don't get me wrong, It's not that I dislike dogs (or cats, for that matter), just that 1) I'm allergic to most of them, and 2) when they are at my house our cockatiel has to be locked up in a different room, which he hates. It's just a bird, you say? Well, if you have never had intelligent birds as companions, let me tell you, they are VERY intelligent and quite good at not only expressing their displeasure, but getting what they want. Basically, Merlin is a small, feathered version of a 3 year old child. Yep, that's about the intelligence level. So getting locked away from me, especially (Karen as well) is fairly torturous to him. We are his flock, and birds are driven to flock together.
It's a real shame he does not like to nap on me when I want to take a nap. He'll nap on me for hours. HOURS. Just not when i want to nap. If I want to nap, he'll sit on my pillow for 10 minutes, then he's done and bored. And if he's napping on me, I'm not allowed to go to the bathroom, get something to drink or eat, type on the laptop, talk on the phone... For hours.
If he wasn't so old (25) I would be less likely to give into him, but since he and I have lived together for those 25 years, I just want to let him be as happy as he can be and hang out.
He still does not understand why other people do not like him to heat off their plate when they are eating, but at least we've trained him to not stand on the plate.
He is adorable though. And speaking of the little stinker, it's time to go wake him up for the day.
Love and hugs to you all. **mwah**
